Remains the privilege of my professional career to have helped build our @SGO_org LEAD program. 2nd year running, 3.0 loading! So proud of stellar mentees & humbled by gracious mentors.
A devastating story of forced labor, among other things.
“I remember my doctor handing me a baby boy that was blue and cold. His eyes were closed and he wasn’t crying. And I remember her putting him on my chest…. I just felt numb…”
I don't think I've ever cried so much working on a story.
Here is Deborah Dorbert, who was forced by @RonDeSantis to give birth to a baby she knew would die, in her own words:

When politicians and lawyers try to dictate health care … people die. These laws are making it easier for medical malpractice to become commonplace.
A predicable, preventable tragedy… beyond words. And a 6 year old son without his momma.
New: At least two women in Georgia died after they couldn't access legal abortions and timely medical care in their state, ProPublica has found. This is one of their stories. https://t.co/ZZhqtEQdWB
🚨🚨🚨Our study on uterine ca outcomes, neighborhood deprivation and racial disparity is out!!! In short, poor neighborhood —> worse outcome. BUT for those w stage 3-4 - Black folks do poorly WHEREVER they live, while White folks do better in wealthy spots.
Neighborhood 🏠 economic 💰vulnerability as a predictor for patterns 📊 of care and outcomes for patients with uterine cancer @SGO_org@IGCSociety@ESGO_society@ASCO@OncoAlert https://t.co/qyTj4iBjSD
This is one of the first studies overlaying neighborhood SES and race alongside endometrial ca outcomes in the US — it involved merging huge datasets, geocoding 35k addresses, performing layers of statistical analysis to understand nuances by race, geography, time.
🙌🏾🙌🏾 a great listen! In the gyn onc world - I swear by a paracervical block for all my patients undergoing endometrial biopsy. Takes 1 min, patients do better, I can get better biopsy. And it’s not how I trained! It’s what I realized in practice. Can’t tell me any differently.

“One important factor is the medical profession’s long-cultivated denial of the intrinsically political nature of medicine and public health… selectively appealing to political neutrality when convenient” https://t.co/Y1hukcjmZv
