Iran used to produce the best scholars in world history when they were Sunni:
Rumi

Attar

Shirazi
Ghazali
Al-Biruni
Al-Khwarizmi
Al-Razi
Ibn Sina
Suhrawardi
Nizami
What has Shia Iran produced post 1500? Just death of culture & regional destruction.
That's funny, because relentless propaganda from you and the entire media industrial complex about how Muslim men are the worst human beings has not resulted in Muslim men cutting off their penises and wearing wigs.
The thing that really surprised me in this episode was that church attendance and religious publications were really booming in western Europe until they suddenly collapsed in the 1960s and 70s. It’s interesting to think about how that can be reconciled with the narrative of the gradual “secularization of the European mind” in the 19th and 20th centuries.
@Geshti_Azadi We always hear about the liberal Marxist PKK type Kurds, but we also hear they are a minority with a lot of power.
Where are the opposite Conservative groups countering this? I haven't come across one, hence it makes me think kurds unfortunately aren't that religious
@Amicus__curiae_ Funny how you quote Ibn Taymiyyah a few times below, yet according to him, doing something that is allegedly worse than hitting the nightclubs and drinking can actually earn you Allah's pleasure and reward.
@sharghzadeh What on earth does Husayn’s (ra) death 1400 years ago have to do with Syrian Sunnis view of Hezbollah you pathetic blabbering baboon? Hezbollah was popular in Syria before they started slaughtering Syrians, we remember. Your colonised mind is completely ignorant on this.
Shakespeare wrote the word Palestine in 1603 in Othello:
“I know a lady in Venice would have walked barefoot to Palestine…”
Even then, Palestine was a known land, a living place in the world’s imagination.
Today, 422 years later, Palestinians are still walking barefoot — not in romance, but in resistance.
For 76 years, they have faced bombs, exile, siege, starvation. Israel has tanks, F-35s, nuclear weapons, and the backing of world powers. Palestinians have sandals, stones, and sometimes nothing but their bare feet.
And yet the world’s most powerful army still says it feels “threatened.”
That tells you everything about the strength of Palestinian resistance.
History has already written it: Palestine existed before 1948. Palestine exists today. Palestine will exist tomorrow. 🇵🇸
Contemporary da'wa is in danger of reducing itself to little more than a virulent and antagonistic manifestation of the modern ḥaḍrat al-qawl (civilization of speech) that is ever more detached from ḥaḍrat al-akhlāq (the civilization of ethics) that lies at the heart of the Islamic tradition.
John Oliver:
"Gaza is starving is objectively true. But it is also slightly misleading because it is too passive.
Gaza is being starved - by Israel."
The "Community of Nations" means nothing if you can forcibly starve a people and remain a full member.
Afghan society & its diverse ethnicities, tribal structures, & local power dynamics, function better under hierarchical authority such as centralized monarchies, traditional theocratic systems etc. than under modern forms of political systems like democracy, republic etc.
