Lovely start to the second part of our Nature Nurtures workshop with @WildLondon at the Centre for Wildlife Gardening. Writer and artists @LauraHannahBar and @cherrytree_walk are leading a workshop on all things poetry and trees.
@WGTMove@actbuildchange The form link in the tweet doesn't seem to be working. But going via the first link in this list did work for me: https://t.co/SOyxg7LMu2
@IndieBookshopUK Start More Than You Can Finish by @BeckyBlades2
Waiting for Ted by @MariekeBigg
Loving them both, excited for what's next in my book piles too! 📚
@RebTamas I lead nature writing workshops outdoors with different organisations and working with mental health collective @miseryparty_.
And fingers crossed for project applications in a medical setting and with older people.
Making task lists helps me except when it doesn't cos I get overwhelmed by huge lists.
Can't remember where I saw this but making lists of 7 has been helping loads.
Just a 7 item list.
(Sometimes do brain dump first.)
& I get to choose what I want to do first/next from the 7.
@SNeurotypicals I get this too.
Reading a book called Start More Than You Finish is helping me a lot.
Also, reminding myself that if it's worth doing it's worth doing half-assed.
I know it's an executive functioning, task initiating thing.
Might start calling it the hydra challenge.
@SNeurotypicals I’ve recently started doing a “reverse to-do list” and it has really helped me w this. My rule is that I have to do 5 chores a day. Any chore, big or small, anything counts. The key is that I write the chore on a big chart AFTER I complete it. 1/

Now I get round this by repeating to myself the 3 or 4 things I need before I leave, like filling my water bottle, grabbing my notebook, putting my shoes on... until I get outside.
Sounds like: water, notebook, shoes X lots.
And then when I'm outside I decide where to go 🤣
Noticed I was having a similar thing with leaving the house (for years but only realised recently), but more like I have all these decisions to make about where to go & what to do, and estimations about my capacity & spoons, that I feel I need to work out first, overwhelming.
And I really appreciate enjoying lovely textures more; like, the "right" kinds of velvet are just so lovely 😍
My Schlafzimmer is basically a nest of synthetic velvet and brushed cotton.
Noticed similar with ADHD — loud sounds bother me way more this year.
Got reusable earplugs, they help lots; don't know how I'd cope otherwise!
Also, enjoy lovely textures more & tolerate yucky ones less lately.
No idea how much it's ⬆️ sensitivity / ⬆️ awareness / ⬇️ masking.
#AskingAutistics Have your sensory issues got worse with age? There are a lot of things I can't tolerate at age 40 that I coped with in my 20s. Is this a natural part of ageing as an #autistic person?
