We are developers focused on protecting users' privacy, particularly on iOS devices. We believe WebKit developers care deeply about privacy, as do we. However, some issues that have been identified a long time ago, are still neglected by Apple https://t.co/tm1f9zHqPz 1/7
Omarchy’s vision for coherent UI theme is lovely. It’d be fantastic if @ghostery could follow the browser theme. To make that happen, we’re proposing a new WebExtensions API: https://t.co/1J5jHg5hYs - will discuss this with W3C WebExtension Community Group. cc @dhh@BrendanEich
Google has some serious indexing problems - for query `"aws_s3_bucket_website_configuration" spa` it shows those results which come from google adserver and redirect to some spam page. https://t.co/H0gz6qQaHT
Language realization: in Polish there is no word for English “direct”. Instead there is a word “bez(-)pośredni”, which translates to “without(-)middleman”. So Polish definition of directness is its double negation 😅
To all #Youtube lovers. This weekend, there were some ads passing through our Ad-Blocking. But not any longer. Ghostery is back in action and blocks all Youtube Ads as always!
If you still see any ads, update your trackers list in Ghostery settings.
Today, we’re launching the contributor program. The rollout brings our core privacy tools to a wider audience, ensuring they will always be free, and creates a direct line of collaboration with our talented community. Learn how you can contribute here: https://t.co/TawipVlstI
@sephr I have some experience implementing webextension APIs for Firefox. If there would be a will to have chrome.debugger we could try to make it (I don't know why Mozilla have not implemented it, there may be a good reason). That wont work for Safari as it is a closed source platform.
@sephr I can see your point, thank you for sharing. Sadly `chrome.debugger` is chromium specific API. https://t.co/0kF9w24Z3n
Tools like autoconsent aim to target all platforms. At Ghostery we wanted to support Safari, which clears user cookies often, so those popups come back.
@Chronotope@kelt@Ghostery Hey Aram. I'm working at Ghostery. Have tried the website you've mentioned and cannot reproduce the problem on my end. Can you please share some details (my DMs are open)? The list of resources look pretty safe, so I wonder what may be going on here.
PCMag recommends Ghostery to shed light on trackers. In addition to that our Anti-Tracking feature detects even more tracking scripts and stops private data leakage at the source.
@gorhill Badge number is really confusing IMAO. It escapes all intuition: when the number is big, it does not necessarily mean that users privacy is protected. In fact big number indicates that publisher does not care about privacy and it is likely that some tracking was not blocked..
@gorhill Users are very sensitive to change so changing the number in the badge will likely upset them. Our Safari users on the other hand never had a badge (WebExtensions are new on Safari) and being presented with different UI, they don't feel anything wrong about it.
