Dr Naledi Pandor has been appointed as the new Board Chair for the #NelsonMandelaFoundation. She takes up her position on 1 October.
She worked closely with Madiba during South Africa’s first democratic administration in the 1990s and is one of South Africa’s longest-serving members of Parliament.
“In a world facing so many complex challenges, mobilising Madiba’s legacy becomes more important than ever. I believe that the Nelson Mandela Foundation is doing critically important work in the social justice space, and I am looking forward to making a meaningful contribution,” she says.
She will be attending the 22nd Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture on 28 September 2024.

🛢 And yet, this month, leaders in the global north, historically responsible for fuelling the climate crisis:
- are going back on their net zero promises
- approving the catastrophic Rosebank oil field
- gathering oil execs with the chair of COP28 in London just weeks before climate talks.
💀 All of this is a death sentence for humanity, but it directly and imminently impacts communities of colour, particularly in the Global South.
