Anglican (TEC) but not Reformed. Probably far too enamored of Nietzsche and Wittgenstein. Don't believe in personality types, but so INTP it hurts. He/him/his.
@RainerMist1987@CatholicCo200@CounterApologis For created beings, the father becomes a father and the son becomes a son at the moment of birth or adoption. For the persons of the Trinity the relation maintains eternally.
@RainerMist1987@CatholicCo200@CounterApologis Christ is begotten, not born. Ignoring the gendering of the terms for the moment, a son is that which has a father. A father is that which has a son. They gain their paternity and filiality from their relation to each other.
@TheModernist_CA I'm struggling where Jesus' human nature fits into this. Saying that a nature is not a being, while true, seems insufficient. A being is certainly involved.
@Tsar_Martyr There's this thing called the categorical imperative.
"God told me to" is not an ethical framework, as it doesn't explain why we ought to obey God.
And I say this as a Christian.
@virtualhistoria@DVFlorencio@SoWhatAaaand I can't imagine what could lead one to conclude that valid episcopacies exist but that Rome isn't one of them. (Other than sedevacantism, I suppose.)
@virtualhistoria@DVFlorencio@SoWhatAaaand Is that an accurate articulation of Lutheran ecclesiology? Anyway I try to make sense of it, it either collapses into the same position as (what is cited as) the Methodist position or is just nonsensical.
@atheistnightmrs Divine command theory doesn't provide true moral justification. It just takes the fact that we ought to obey God as axiomatic without being able to explain why.
@TheModernist_CA It's not clear to me that someone graduating from this program would learn less math and science than I did in undergrad. Obviously it wouldn't work for *everyone* to go through this program, but it doesn't strike me as obviously deficient in and of itself.
@HoRyu_Nova13@CricketSurfing@rstemler1 The government is meant to represent our collective society, our values, our priorities our collective will. It's not supposed to be this abstract institution we have no power over. Charity is the point of having a society, protecting the weak, the sick, and the poor IS society.
@cfshep3@SpectralAurora_@anonymous_tami I'm not committed to the idea that a non-racist reason exists. But there are certainly reasons (largely those involving physical characteristics) that are less glaringly and undeniably racist.
I certainly don't think an answer to your second question exists.
@David_Kicinski@dejardinant I think we need to define first what it would mean for "science" (which is an activity, not a body of propositions) to be true.
