An NWS survey team concluded an EF-1 tornado with peak winds of 95 mph touched down on the west-northwest end of Joplin early this morning. The path length was 1.04 miles with a maximum width of 200 yards, and no injuries have been reported.

@DevinWxChase This video kinda gives me Jarrell Texas tornado vibes. Not by dead man walking but by seeing dark barrel shaped too. I hope nobody was harmed in this tornado.

Having chased this, watched it on radar, etc., I have zero doubt in my mind this was an EF5-strength tornado with winds over 200 mph.

I have never heard a roar like this in my career; I was within a mile at peak strength. It shot lighting out of it.
