@gordo_10001@JeffreyLuscombe No, you didn't. You paid taxes for the privilege of being part of a society that takes care of ALL its members equally.
Of course, the alternative is we could all be Libertarians and build our own roads, perform our own appendectomies, put out our own fires....
• La suppression des espaces réservés exclusivement aux femmes (toilettes publiques, vestiaires, refuges pour femmes battues, prisons, etc.);
• L’endoctrinement des enfants, à l’école ou via les médias d’État, aux dogmes de l’idéologie de l’identité de genre, malgré l’absence de consensus scientifique sur ces concepts;
• La négation de l’existence du sexe biologique et de sa binarité immuable, qui sont des faits scientifiques;
• Le rejet de l’importance du sexe biologique dans la construction de l’identité individuelle;
• La confusion entre sexe et genre;
• L’expansion de la transidentité au-delà des cas de dysphorie de genre;
For all the talk about how Carney was a political neophyte and didn’t understand politics, he’s been on an absolute tear since becoming PM.
On every metric, the Liberals have been absolutely outclassing us across the board.
The CPC will never win Martel’s seat again.
About Belgium, (the country that kicked the USA's ass in the world cup):
Belgium operates as a social democracy, combining a capitalist free-market economy with a robust welfare state and extensive social security net. The country features a strong public sector and redistributive social policies such as universal healthcare and public education which are supported by progressive taxation.
I think there's a sovereignty argument to be made here, given our current dependence on a US pipeline. Having said that, the OLP is correct; Ford needs to present a cogent and reasonable business case and meet his obligations to all impacted stakeholders.
Today, Doug Ford announced a pipeline route before finishing the feasibility study, before Indigenous consultations were complete, and before Manitoba is even on board.
A pipeline plan with no financial analysis, business case, or clear path forward is just a pipe dream.

All 3 World Cup hosts eliminated in the same round, but not alike:
🇨🇦: Proudly, with its best showing ever in a World Cup
🇲🇽: Courageously, pushing favourite England to the brink
🇺🇲: In shame, with the world cheering against their pedophile-ruled shithole for tarnishing the game
Born in a refugee camp, “...Canada took me in and made me feel at home.” Now, Alphonso Davies is the Canadian Men’s National Team captain. Which Canadian athlete most inspires you? ⚽ #TeamCanada#MotivationalMonday
Americans ALSO wait in line, with wait times comparable to Canada's. Let me re-emphasize:
U.S. HEALTHCARE HAS LENGTHY WAIT TIMES TOO
But while both Americans and Canadians wait, only Americans will pay $2K a month in health insurance premiums and STILL get a $200K hospital bill
It’s official, Kyle Lowry will be in Toronto tomorrow to announce his retirement from the NBA and sign a one day contract to retire a Raptor 🔥

I'm old enough to remember the time Trump wanted a shiny object and Infantino awarded him a FIFA Peace Prize. Of course Infantino is a Trump sycophant.
Also, the "Trump pressured FIFA!" thing is mostly nonsense. Trump has no real leverage over FIFA, and if it was just about Trump, in fact most heads of Euro-centric institutions get a huge internal boost by DEFYING Trump, especially on the world stage where he could be humiliated. Canadas Prime Minister won a whole ass election on this princeple.
That isn't to say there isnt "bias" or "corruption" here. Of course the fact that Balogun plays on USA was a major factor in overturning this. But it has notbing to do with Trump.
Its because FIFA is obsessed with capturing the American market, and rhw unprecedented success of this WC has basically ensured that will be their #1 priority over the next decade or so.
So to that end, they cannot risk the bad optics of suspending America's best player for a borderline call that most Americans simply wont see as deserving of a game suspension. FIFA desperately wants America to go deep in this World Cup.
And while that may leave a bad taste in the mouths of the Europunditry, the fact is, it is good for football if America is fully engaged. But it means the purists are in for some heartburn over the n3xt fee years because the game will definitely subtly change to better suit the American market.
And you will all hate thise changes. But they will mostly be good ones (offsides rules will get softer, penalties will be deemphasized in favor of alternate game deciders) with some bad ones (probably 4 quarters, more commercial breaks etc).
Overall the game will be better for it.
I might suggest that one aspect of American exceptionalism is that yanks believe everything is reduced to a zero-sum game - for America or against America - and this gets conflated with morality. So, the "right" thing to do is to suspend the red card.
Regardless of where you stand on Balogun-Gate, the whole reaction to both sides highlights some very key differences in the American vs European mindset.
In the American mind, "getting it right" is the most important thing. Thats how justice is served, is by getting to the correct result based on the play on the field.
The European mind is different though. They have an instinct towards bureaucracy and are obsessed with process. The Process must be respected. Respecting process is more important than the specifics of what happened on the field.
And thats why you get this wild take thats fairly common where a Euro will say something like "He didnt deserve the red card, but once it was given it cannot be overturned!".
To the American mind, justice is served by getting the call right, regardless of process. To the European mind, justice is served by respecting process, regardless of the result.
Its a fascinating look into the psyche of both, and if I'm permitted a little armchair psychoanalysis of both groups, id say the reason lies in their history. The Europeans spent centuries as the peasant class of Europe, essentially being forced to accept whatever shit the aristocracy piled up on them. There was no "appeals" process, they took what they had too, because there was no other option. In this environment, a certain "acceptance of one's fate" or immunity to overt injustice likely seeped into the national psyches. No one had success by "fighting the power", the power imbalance was simply too great. What eventually saved them though, was process. Rules-based orders were the only thing that gave them a semblance of power vs the aristorcracies of their upper classes. And so they came to revere Process as the Ultimate Good and working OUTSIDE process as the Ultimate Evil.
The Americans, on the other hand, never developed their national psyche in the world of Kings and Aristocrats. Class was far less rigid in the new world, and risk-taking WAS highly rewarded there. "Fighting the power" to "do what was right" WAS greatly rewarded during the American Revolution when a few great men "fought the power" and were gifted with what would become the most powerful, prosperous country on Earth. And so a certain disdain against "process" took hold, a general feeling that "process" was only as good as long as it provided fair and just outcomes. As opposed to the European model, where "process " was the only thing that had given them anything close TO "fair and just outcomes".
So in that context, the massive gap between both sides makes sense
Or maybe this is all nonsense and its just anti-American, pro-Euro tribalism, who knows 🤷🏼♂️
