I’m thrilled to share my first paper of grad school! Thanks to first author @YLeonSun for trusting me with his project. I’m excited to use this ABCA3 disease model to further investigate treatment options for these patients.
Thrilled to share that NSF IOS has funded my CAREER Award to expand our work on mechanisms of GxE in plants! It will also support me to develop a plant biology class, which (I believe) will be the first one offered here at MIT. (1/2) @NSF
Carly Martin (@cmart_seq) is a Ph.D. student @MITBiology in the Gehring lab @WhiteheadInst, currently using seed single-nuclei sequencing to map signatures of selection from genes to specific cell types in Arabidopsis. Register for the #2022PCASymposium at https://t.co/RzV26hWolX
I am happy to announce that I will be starting my lab at the University of Toronto Scarborough @UtscBiology in Jan 2023. My lab will work on seed development and towards understanding how seed development will/can change in response to climate change.
Very excited to finally share my first co-first author paper with @tkam80 and @macosko and the whole team in @NatureNeuro elucidating cell type vulnerability in Parkinson's disease! None of this work would've been possible without the years of effort it took the team...
It was an honor to have presented at the @WhiteheadInst Forum today! I remember sitting in one of the Forums back in 2019 wondering if I would ever give a talk, myself…! I’m so grateful to be a part of this wonderful scientific community 🧪🧬🌱 more to come!
Let me congratulate the @MITGradUnion on voting to form a union. All across the country, graduate student teachers are being ruthlessly exploited by very wealthy universities. I hope today's victory inspires a nationwide movement of workers on campuses fighting for better pay.
I just voted YES for @MITGradUnion !!! Let’s give grad workers the power we deserve to make MIT a better place for everyone to work and to learn #YesMITGSU
I experienced firsthand the struggles of advisor conflict and switching labs as a PhD student at MIT. I am firmly convinced that by unionizing, we can secure a fairer grievance procedure: https://t.co/0LFoMfbEH7
A genetic circuit to screen 100,000,000 modified peptides to find one that hits a therapeutic target. Applied to find a binder to SARS-CoV-2 Spike. https://t.co/zzGiTAj9zt @MITdeptofBE@Novartis#biotech#COVID19
Why don’t they just sequence the genome of the sandworms and figure out which genes code for the spice? Then get those genes into some yeast and start fermenting the stuff. I guess it would make for a less interesting movie though
@Abdul_Squared@macosko Thank you Abdul! Really excited to see what else this dataset can do. Thank you for your support and for being generous with your experimental expertise along the way!
Congratulations to Whitehead Institute Member Pulin Li, who has received a New Innovator Award from the @NIH. This prestigious award will fund her investigations into how epithelial and mesenchymal cells interact to form organs.
