Well done @silv24 for recognising things weren’t right and seeking help - glad you have support and an action plan in place. There will be many colleagues out there in your position, feeling like you do. If Natalie’s story rings true to you, please speak to someone #RecoveryPhase
Thank you @RanaAwdish so beautifully expressed “We are not our pain. There is something powerful in acknowledging that we are separate from our pain...We get to decide the form of our own scar, how we will use this experience to better serve others....”
In a life post-pandemic, will we actually be able to set our intention and retain a sense of wonder, or will we acclimate to dinners out, crowded music venues, and hugs?
Dr. @RanaAwdish reflects on how we can heal from the pandemic and move forward. https://t.co/SxSUUu31h4
We are starting a conversation about kindness & civility among @RUHStaff & how to make this flourish.

Shame is everywhere in #healthcare, but so taboo that we never talk about it.
Now is time to change that.
@TheNocturnists & @Shame_Medicine are creating an audio #storytelling series exploring Shame in Medicine.

Exciting to see my article about a compassion focused intervention for pain is the most cited at present from #britjpain. Such a promising avenue of clinical practice which aligns with the current biopsychosocial understanding of pain.

Over the last 10 days I’ve been hearing accounts from NHS staff [in south Wales] who’ve been repeatedly abused online and accused of peddling fake news about the pandemic.
Here’s a flavour of what they’ve had to face

Honored to work w/ @taranaburke & these contributors on this anthology. Every essay on shame resilience, vulnerability & the Black experience took my breath away. Sharing the book's intro, our conversation about the power of lived experience & co-creation. https://t.co/yadkoFyd0N
"My favorite quote of the episode was “Psychological safety is not at odds with having tough conversations – it is what allows us to have tough conversations." "
@rmholloway This is the way forward. From med school and residency to grand rounds and M+Ms - shame is embedded in the system and can only be excavated thru real conversation and systemic change. Then everything transforms from the well being of docs to patient outcomes.
