It has never been more obvious that the large institutions that comprise the internet can't be trusted to preserve it. The internet is fundamentally just an idea, a set of protocols, implemented in the form of a billion computers, and it's just as much ours as it is theirs.
We picked up an automatic litterbox recently. It's pretty good! Works well, keeps the smell down, has an app. Only problem with it is that I keep getting stuck
Community banks are the last place in America where a man in a short-sleeve dress shirt can approve a $400,000 loan based on the fact that he went to high school with your dad. There are 4,100 of them left. There were 14,000 in 1984. Every time one gets acquired, a teller named Brenda learns a new software system and a small town loses the only institution that would lend against a combine. The acquirer always says nothing will change. Brenda is gone in eighteen months. The lobby cookies go next. Then the branch closes. Then the building becomes a vape shop. This is not a financial trend. This is the slow administrative murder of the only version of capitalism that ever knew your name.
@mycoliza@ryuu_sen95 Any control engineer born after 1973 can't relay logic, all they know is buy fanless mini-PC at enormous markup, install Windows Server 2016, break FactoryTalk Administration Console, and call Rockwell support hotline
@RussellShaw_MLS@Breaking911 I can't get over how this hasn't been discussed at all. The homeowner recognized what was going on and responded with compassion. The temperature of the situation immediately dropped. He handled it perfectly.
@1trdrjoe@spectatorindex Put another way, what are they waiting for? Do you think Trump is holding back out of kindness? If the destruction of the IRGC is such a certainty, why haven't they just done it yet?
@1trdrjoe@spectatorindex What would it take for you to accept that the US isn't the unstoppable force you previously understood it to be? How many more deadlines and "days of hell" must come and go for you to accept that the US is bluffing, that they have lost the upper hand?
Before the false flag, ask yourself: why would Iran do this? They've the majority of the US & global public on their side, this USraeli war of aggression is deeply unpopular. Why would they turn people against their completely justified resistance against an illegal war by carrying out a terrorist attack?
Meanwhile, Yemen didn’t allow the crew on ships they sunk to drown and put them in hotels. The U.S. is boasting about letting people drown instead of saving them. The cruelty is disgusting.
@posting_forever You can just do things (completely obliterate the petrodollar, the market for American weapon systems, end NATO, and burn through our entire stock of standoff munitions and anti ballistic missiles at the behest of a nation with a spitting-based economy that despises us)
@hateyourselfpls You've gotta understand that we're talking about a large country, not a team of teenagers in their garage. When you have that much money and manpower at your disposal, YOU make the parts. They reverse engineer whatever they have to in order to keep them in the air.
If this is the calculus, that Iran can produce 100 of these missiles that are making mince meat of the Iron Dome a month & yet you can only manufacture 7 interceptors during the same time frame, who in their right fucking mind would start this conflict?
