Building on the partnership agreement signed in 2025 in #Mauritius, @IFRC and @commission_coi are advancing concrete steps toward implementation.

Today’s meeting in #Madagascar focused on the Plan of Action and joint resource mobilization to strengthen cooperation and resilience across the South-West Indian Ocean region.

The engagement also highlighted the complementary roles of the #RedCross and #RedCrescent alongside @commission_coi in supporting progress toward the treaty on the protection of persons in the event of disasters.

Together with @UNmigration, we are assuming co-leadership of Global Shelter, Land & Site Coordination Cluster, a major step toward faster, fairer and more effective humanitarian support worldwide. By bringing shelter, site coordination, and housing, land and property assistance under one framework, we are aligning our coordination approach with how people actually live, in homes, neighbourhoods and communities.

I would like to thank @IOMchief and @UNmigration for our long-standing collaboration.

The impact of this closer collaboration is already visible. During the recent floods in Sri Lanka, @UNMigration and @IFRC teams worked hand-in-hand to support affected families, combining emergency shelter assistance, site coordination, and recovery planning.
