Thanks to the spontaneous, experimental people of Amsterdam we just ran the first ever City Doughnut Workshop @De_Zwijger @circleeconomy and it was huge fun. Great discussions, and lots of ideas for taking this forward elsewhere @c40cities.
@lillyspickup Fantastic that you are going Lilly. And then if you can make it to Amsterdam for around 3.30pm to join us at the Circularity Festival, I’d be delighted to share the stage with you. Just tell @friedlh if you can...
Tomorrow is the first BIG climate strike and march for students in the Hague. I am going to support them even mum made a sign! #schoolstrike#climatestrike#denhaag
What a sad loss of a brilliant man and mind. Bernard Lietaer, who died today, taught me how to think about money - with wit and humour to boot. May his ideas keep inspiring us.
Refugees - are created by war, famine, terror, environmental crisis, oppression. Always have been. Will be as long as such crises are created.
And the policies of western governments, including of the UK, have helped exacerbate many of these and thereby create ever more refugees.
@jack_saundrs @CurlyClareToo If a bunch of lads from a council estate allowed their pit bulls to kill their kitten in their garden they'd be going to jail. AND RIGHTLY SO
A bunch of posh and poshers let their dogs kill wild animals on someone else's land ...tradition?
@jack_saundrs @Hfootlady My Dad's a Tory but when the hunt is out *MOD land that runs by their garden, he goes out with the chainsaw. He turns it on & makes the hunt stop.A small direct action from an 85yr old but one that disrupts, annoys & potentially saves a Fox
The hunt has no support from the locals.
@jack_saundrs even my horrendous racist uncle who literally goes grouse shooting on boxing day doesn't like the hunt... for whatever that's worth (North Yorkshire / County Cleveland here)
@jack_saundrs Trumped up and dressed up thugs, as one of my old neighbours found out when politely trying to redirect a bunch of the gits who had, er, manged to somehow get lost! 😎
@jack_saundrs Where I used to farm sit in Yorkshire I was warned by the (tenant) farmer about how the local hunt had trespassed through her livestock fields + terrified her dogs. They don’t give a shit: self-entitled brats in silly outfits with torturous and murderous intents.
@jack_saundrs @maurlind So true. Sat in my little village, we are mostly meat eaters, so I have no problem with the brace of pheasant or rabbit that occasionally comes to my door, we eat them. There is no one, including those with horses, who fox hunt, they don’t ‘enjoy’ killing just for ‘fun’
Hey Twitter, anyone out there good at making these kinds of things (change the size, colour)? I'd love to hire your services cos the Doughnut's gonna get dynamic in 2019...
@KateRaworth Stating that economists have antagonised many people doesn't look insulting to me. However your preference for sound argument is admirable.
Coming up tomorrow & still some tickets left: Is #economic#growth our modern day #religion? If so, how can we develop an alternative to growth as a religiously fulfilling view of our collective future? w/ Richard Douglas. Tickets here: https://t.co/GUiInTtwnQ
@KateRaworth Politicians don’t create political will, they respond to it. That’s why @citizensclimate lobby is made up of... well, citizens! Join https://t.co/YeiefqYDln and let’s get a #PriceOnPollution. Oh, and we ❤️ @GretaThunberg. You go girl.
For everyone who ever asked, 'But what can people like me do? I'm just a mum / student / employee / child'. That, combined with vision, may turn out to be the very source of your power.
