@RutgersAltRoute A4 I 😍Checklists! They help everyone, not just those with ADHD. Note, not all are diagnosed in elementary grades. I can only observe symptoms and offer various adjustments. So I try to advocate for minimizing distraction and maximizing choice & responsibility. #AltRtEd #SpEd

@RutgersAltRoute A3 I'm trying an individual Multiplication Challenge Tracker. Ss track their own progress mastering x table. They get a sticker and a small reward each time they crush their small goal every Friday. If they fail, they get to try again the following week. #AltRtEd #SpEd

@RutgersAltRoute A1: It was both a challenge and opportunity for me to teach myself and my young students that fairness does not mean everyone gets equal things. This was re. allowing fidget bands on chairs and using stress balls during class. #AltRtEd #SpEd A1

@RutgersAltRoute A5. For all involved in bullying, young children (lower elem grades) can be taught to value speaking up for themselves and for others. Placing a high value and celebrating kindness and inclusion should go hand in hand too.

@RutgersAltRoute A4. It's not always clear who is telling the truth. Also some Ss stretch the truth or paint a picture to avoid trouble or justify their unkind actions.

@RutgersAltRoute A3. I work with colleagues in person during prep. With parents, the high tech route has been working nicely so far. I have 100% participation using Class Dojo. That's where I post class news/updates and 1:1 message with parents; it's a good platform to keep msgs brief and clear.
