@9mmCalvin@Grummz People recreate the environment they live in. If you know Japan’s isekai boom, you know... People there identify with videogames more than real life, and the works reflect that.
And game devs are not normal people. At least in the sense that you and I would consider, “normal.”
@MatthewParrott@TomCook30391646@Huelingo1@thirdmetax It’s rarely that easy to discern the difference until you actually put in the effort. Physical limitations are just more obvious than most.
Oftentimes, the effort itself is a talent. Being able to stick to something longer than anyone else can put you at the top of many fields.
@CherryManticore@K3rhos@Pirat_Nation Same could be said about Apple & Google Play stores. Does Steam offer anything those giants don’t also provide?
@CherryManticore@K3rhos@Pirat_Nation I’m telling you that the same can be said about virtually all monopolies. They’re still subject to laws and are under heavy pressure from governments. That 30% cut is not going to last with Apple or Google, so Steam should be next.
@JasonABloomer@jere_codes Code is purely functional, which is why almost nobody cares if people copy large chunks of our code, as it’s less distinguishable between different people.
Same cannot be said about art. It’s fine to learn from it, but many would argue that AI copies rather than learns
@CherryManticore@K3rhos@Pirat_Nation You do understand how monopolies are formed, right? There’s zero benefit to making a new store because you need to sell at a loss to pull any customers off Steam. Gamers also fight to preserve this monopoly, because multiple stores are not desired.
@K3rhos@Pirat_Nation This applies to most monopolies, it isn’t enough of an excuse. Nobody is “forced” to use Google, and certainly not Apple. If they’re under pressure then Steam deserves the same, their 30% cut from developers is nowhere near reasonable anymore.
@Real_ManaTea@MrAndyNgo@hasanthehun You’re wrong. Many of those European countries have heavy restrictions on speech, you can be imprisoned just for expressing opinions online. That press index has nothing to do with free speech.
@chrisstover23@travelingflying@elonmusk Hollywood has always been sick, it's just gotten worse with time. People going off to "the city" and losing their minds has been something documented for hundreds of years, we're just seeing more extreme forms of it
@baby_scrilla@TheChroNikler The other party encourages people to kill their own babies. That is significantly worse.
And it isn’t hard to argue that people aren’t owed anything. That’s been the norm as long as humans lived on this earth.
@TheGamingBoa6@reddit_lies Look at any list of terrible Anakin lines on the internet. He doesn’t speak like a normal human, poor delivery…
Ewan also had terrible lines but still carried it. Someone like DiCaprio would’ve been able to pull it off, actors can mitigate a lot of damage from bad writing
@TheGamingBoa6@reddit_lies He has a bad voice, and/or a strange manner of speaking. It ruins the performance, and much of the trilogy, if I’m honest.
Kid Anakin was even worse but he wasn’t as central to the first movie
@AndrewG29922648@bloomstickiii@AutismCapital Exactly. If we can agree suicide is undesirable, then it’s obvious that making it easily accessible can only be a bad thing.
MAID cannot be a free ticket out of life for young, depressed people. That is pure insanity and any victims’ parents would be justifiably infuriated.
@swampratwatch@tiredoctoling@signulll I think it’s obvious to almost everybody that opting for Apple products is not the most practical if you’re only seeking functionality.
The point of the OP was you could have products that feel somewhat high end, at reasonable prices. That’s all
@swampratwatch@tiredoctoling@signulll I'm mostly questioning your #2 point (attachment to a device, prioritize functionality), because it's actually an artistic choice, not an IQ thing
OS preferences, and even computer language preferences, are a matter of taste. Only the individual can determine the worth of it all
