Overprotected kids become unprepared adults.
Dawn Staley nailed it.🔥
You can’t shelter your child from every hard moment and then expect them to handle adversity when it counts.
Hard is the lesson.

Simple Hitting.
If a coach tells you to get into your legs.
This is what it looks like.
Notice.
Piping on back thigh angles back.
Chest behind waist.
Hitting against firm (inverted front knee).
The majority of amateur hitters don’t get in this position because it takes work and effort.
"A lot of times the guy that plays hard is better than the guy that has the most talent."
Everybody wants to be called talented.
Few want to be called relentless.
It's simple:
The one who refuses to be outworked eventually becomes the one nobody can stop.
“There’s something about an athlete that you have to believe that you’re better than you are. You have to. But, the great ones can also look really honestly with themselves and go you know what? I’m afraid. I need to get better at this. I need to get better at that,” Dave Roberts
Mike Bianco shares a story about commitment that will change how you think about goals.
Jack Weimer was about 5'10" and weighed almost 300 pounds. His doctor told him:
"You're not going to live a long life. You've got to go on a diet, you've got to exercise - you're gonna die of a heart attack or stroke."
He wanted to change. But his commitment wasn't good enough.
Then one day, he got devastating news. His daughter Megan was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease. She needed a kidney transplant.
They tested everyone in the family and Jack was the only match.
He was excited until the doctors said:
"We can't operate on you. We may lose you on the table. And we're not putting that kidney in your daughter. We can't do that."
He asked: "How much time do I have?"
"Maybe 6 months."
In 6 months, Jack Weimer lost 100 pounds. They had the surgery. His daughter got the transplant.
So what's the story about?
"His commitment wasn't high enough. He wanted to - just like people want to win, people want to go to Omaha, people want to play well. But his commitment wasn't great enough."
Then Bianco dropped the line everyone needs to hear:
"Once your commitment is greater than your feelings, that's when you get results. That's when it happens for you."
Wanting isn't enough. You have to commit.
• Commit to showing up.
• Commit to being selfless.
• Commit to being a good teammate.
Your commitment has to be greater than your feelings.
That's when change happens.

I evaluate 50+ hitters a day.
I'm seeing too many late, on-the-fence swings..
Hitters who are thinking instead of hunting.
No matter how 'good' swing is, this matters more.
Here's a tip to fix:
- Pick a target on the field before the pitch.
- When the ball leaves the pitcher's hand, ask one question: "Can I drive this pitch to my target?"
YES → Attack it.
NO → Take it.
That's it.
Not "Is it in my zone?"
Not "What pitch is this?"
Just YES or NO.
Stop thinking. Start hunting. Good luck.
My kids play flag football once a week.
Basketball is one practice and one game.
Baseball is 3 days a week.
They swim twice a week and have 4 winter meets.
Obviously these aren’t all at the same time.
The issue is chasing travel ball. We just play rec sports. We have zero sports on Sundays. Never have to leave our region for any games. Mostly over on Saturday by mid afternoon.
New England Patriots QB Drake Maye was asked what his favorite Bible verse was at Super Bowl media day.
“Proverbs 16:9. The heart of a man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”
