Data on 35,000+ adults: the more cannabis you’ve used in life, the bigger your hippocampus and the better your brain works after 40!
People who had ever used cannabis tended to have larger brain volume in key areas that are full of natural cannabis-like receptors (especially the hippocampus, amygdala, caudate, and putamen – these areas are important for memory, emotions, learning, and movement).
The more cannabis someone had used in their lifetime, the larger these brain areas were and the better they performed on tests of learning, processing speed, and short-term memory.

@rewildingpete it seemed like the closest parallel to your heraclitus reference.
the shepherd point is interesting too, I feel like those communities were more the early zoroastrianism influence vs the judah ag boom, maybe why the "modern" references were fishing etc
@rewildingpete Deuteronomy 20:19 "When you besiege a city for a long time" ... "in order to take it, you shall not destroy its trees by wielding an axe against them. You may eat from them, but you shall not cut them down. Are the trees in the field human, that they should be besieged by you?”
@rewildingpete Deuteronomy 22:6–7 "If you come across a bird’s nest in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs and the mother sitting on the young or on the eggs, you shall not take the mother with the young. You shall let the mother go, but the young you may take for yourself..."
