❤️‍🩹“She’s recording a video for her father in heaven.” Sitting alone, the martyred Palestinian journalist Anas al Sharif's young daughter Sham, holds a phone in her small hands and looks into the camera with eyes filled with innocence and longing. In her imagination, the video will reach her father so he can watch it, so she can feel close to him again, even for a moment. Sham speaks about the day she will see him again, when she will go to her father, go out with him, shop together, and he will buy her everything like he always did.

Her father, Anas Al-Sharif, the 28-year-old heroic Palestinian journalist known for documenting the Israeli genocide on Gaza from the north, was martyred on August 10, 2025 when an Israeli occupation airstrike targeted a media tent outside Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. The Israeli terror attack also martyred his colleagues Mohammed Qreiqeh (33), an Al Jazeera correspondent; Ibrahim Zaher (25) and Mohammed Noufal (29), Al Jazeera cameramen; as well as freelance journalists Moamen Aliwa and Mohammad al-Khaldi.
