@ericcrescenze Great point Eric. It would be great for schools to at least offer a short course or certificate for students regarding digital citizenship. #wuedt6035
A:5 I believe the most important aspect is Digital Access. Schools have such diverse populations. It is crucial for teachers to understand how to address the issue that not all students have the same access to technology. #wuedt6035
A4: I have also just stopped by to visit my school's Learning Support Coaches and ask them what assistive technology they use to help students. They have shown me quite a bit about assistive technologies I had little or no knowledge of. #wuedt6035
A2: I am sure my students would appreciate using resources without having to stress about the violating copyright laws. Also, it could be valuable for them to learn the difference between OER and privately owned material. #wuedt6035
A1: I was surprised by how important is to cite photographs for academic work. I often thought that citing photographs was necessary for companies. #wuedt6035
@SarahQJ Yes,laptops and internet browsers certainly allow more flexibility. I agree about the improved typing skills. Although I am always shocked by how many students tell me they typed their essays on their cellphone using Google Docs. I need a keyboard when I am writing. #wuedt6020
@Danielle_J001 Yes I agree that Ipads would be much easier for students to download and use apps. With regard to security measures, we have a lockdown browser, but it is only applicable with Schoology. It would be nice to have Ipads and set security measures.
@mrsfoxmusic Yes I like the Chromebooks. Unfortunately, I have older, bigger, and clunkier laptops. I spend so much time placing the chargers for these old laptops in so they can charge properly. #wuedt6020
@cnc67 Yes some of the teachers in my department are using Chromebooks as well. Most teachers had some hiccups at first, but they seem to be liking having Chromebooks in the class. The chromebooks may have some of the best of both worlds, since they are touchscreen laptops. #wuedt6020
@ccottee001 I have found that my students really love it when I incorporate games into the classroom. I have used Kahoot and Gamecraft in the class and they are always a big hit! Gamecraft costs money, but they offer a free month trial. It also hooks up to Google Classroom #wuedt6020
@lindsaygarb I have tried to involve parents by giving parents a HW assignment in which they must sign into my LMS Schoology course and answer a question about their child. This teaches them how my class LMS works so they can look at assignments, ask questions, and be involved! #wuedt6020
@aklecha001 I haven't noticed an uptick in plagiarism due to Google Docs. In fact, since they share their work with me, I track their assignments as they work on them and I remind them of this to discourage cheating. I do find that cell phones and cameras lead to most of cheating. #wuedt6020
@LyonsScience011 Wow this is a great idea. I appreciate that students can use a class hashtag to share their favorite moments or knowledge they learned during a field trip. Great idea! #wuedt6020
@Honeal_2001 I like the idea of using a common hashtag so students can follow and reply other student's tweets. I'd be interested if a hashtag could be used so a class could communicate with students from another country about a class subject. #wuedt6020
Twitter is a great social media tool to use in class. Character limit is useful when I ask the students to tweet a summary. It forces them to be concise. I have not used Twitter for student global connections, but I am sure a great discussion could be had via Twitter.#wuedt6020
@carmellatte12 I think that Virtual Reality is a great way for students to retain information. Some students have trouble retaining information that is written. Teachers can still teach an informational text, but virtual reality would be great supplement for visual learners. #wuedt6020
