The person being questioned was me, and I would like to clarify several points here.

The first question (naturally):

If we had an L1 with all the luxuries of decentralization, censorship resistance, speed, and cheap transactions. why would we need rollups?

To me, alignment means:

- Addressing liquidity fragmentation on Ethereum

- Advancing rollups toward better censorship resistance standards

- Enabling a user experience (through synchronous composability) where users don’t have to choose between 70+ rollups when interacting with Ethereum

- Empowering Ethereum validators by moving execution back to them

- Fostering better economic alignment with ETH by enabling mechanisms like MEV burn

That’s what a based rollup gets you and that is “alignment” for a better Ethereum.
