"The road to success is paved with mistakes well handled" -Danny Meyer
This really resonates with me - it's more useful than saying "success comes from failure". We all make mistakes. Constantly. How you handle mistakes as a leader will set you apart and earn trust and respect.
@tedwards947 You're welcome! In retrospect, it was no more a risk than any other great hire I've made. I would also give credit to @joelsass for stepping up to mentor you during your early days on the team!
Wow, can't believe I've done 100+ sessions on Plato! I've grown quite a bit through this experience. Both by learning from the leaders I meet, and by having to more clearly distill the lessons I've learned over the years into principles and practices that land with others.
Many factors go into making great eng. manager, but for @Netflix’s Director of UI Eng., @csaintamant, it's all about balance.
He's not just a manager but a rockstar mentor for his team members & for so many others @platohq. Congratulations on completing 100+ mentorship calls🥳
DISA is sending a HUGE congratulations to @USArmy Col. Darcy Saint-Amant, who was recently recognized by @ISC2 as one of 2️⃣ government information security leaders who has helped improve government information security and advance an in-demand workforce! (1/3)
@JemYoung And you also have a strong foundation of storytelling and presentation skills you can build on for writing. You've got all the raw materials!
@JemYoung It's never too late to invest in those skills! I too didn't focus much on writing earlier in my career either. It's really been my time at Netflix (which is only the last 1/3 of my career) that I really focused in on writing skills development.
To be silent is to be complicit.
Black lives matter.
We have a platform, and we have a duty to our Black members, employees, creators and talent to speak up.
@daniel_jacobson Awesome news! I'm a long-time digital subscriber, and excited to see what you get into over there. NYT has been incredibly important over the last few years, and even more the last few months.
Incredibly powerful view on empathy and listening from @rickgriffith:
"Accept that at any given time, the answer to [a] problem could be well-lodged in the back of the throat of a person who doesn't want to speak up."

At #Netflix we are always excited to come up with new feature ideas and our hack days are a perfect way to show off innovative new ideas. Check out some of the ideas from our fall hack day https://t.co/ZeJwhwDmAg
Super proud of Tara for giving this amazing talk. If you'd like to work with amazing leaders like her, shoot me a note, we're always hiring for our team.
Lots of great stories (including mine) of non-traditional paths to success. For me, it wouldn't have been possible without the people who took chances on me along the way, and numerous folks who mentored me on the job.
