Leo and Lou, two elderly horses, spent almost their entire lives doing hard labor. When they were no longer strong enough to work, their former owner abandoned them, leaving them weak, sick, and starving. Both were little more than skin and bones, and it seemed they might not survive much longer. Thankfully, a dedicated rescue team found them just in time and brought them to safety.

There, Leo and Lou were cared for with endless patience and compassion. Thanks to proper medical treatment and rehabilitation especially sessions on an underwater treadmill. Leo made an incredible recovery, gaining more than 136 kilograms (300 pounds) in just three months.

Today, the two old friends are enjoying peaceful days together in a lush green pasture. They stroll side by side, run freely, and are finally spending their senior years surrounded by safety, love, and gentle care. The life they should have had all along. 🐴💖

We had a call this week from a dog warden/council pound about this poor girl who was found.
She has a suspicious lump in her mouth, which could well be some sort of tumour, but she’s otherwise in good condition and she’s a nice girl.
It didn’t seem right not to investigate and give her a chance but obviously we’re under time pressure because she’s in the pound.
We got the ok to take her to the vets and have a biopsy done so we can determine what she needs going forward and we’re already on communication with our Akita rescue. She goes to the vets today.
Please keep your fingers crossed there’s something we can do for her.
It’s no secret we’re having to meet extremely high vet bills at the moment but this is what we do, we have to be there for the ones that have no other options

🚨JOSHUA BRADLEY, 21, DOAGH, BALLYCLARE, CO ANTRIM

In court, it was heard that Bradley from Doagh near #ballyclare punched the puppy in the face, strangled him and threw him across a room while shouting abuse. The pup “screeched” in pain during the attack.

Miraculously, the puppy was uninjured, and he is now being cared for by Bradley’s former partner.

The incident, which took place in March 2024, was captured on video and shown in court. The judge described Bradley’s actions as “quite appalling” and warned that this level of cruelty is a red flag for future violence.

Bradley received a six‑month prison sentence, suspended for three years, and was banned from keeping animals for FIVE years.

💔 This case shows again how lightly animal cruelty is punished — and how many offenders walk free despite violent acts against defenceless animals.

Virginia still protects the people who leave dogs to die in hot cars more than the people who try to save them.

Look at what other states already do. In Florida, the law is clear. If you see a dog locked in a car and it’s clearly in danger, you call 911, use only the force needed, stay with the animal, and you’re shielded from a lawsuit over the broken window. Same in California. Sue Harvey in Palm Desert watched an 8-year-old Pomeranian cook in a locked Chevy Colorado at 102 degrees. The dog’s temperature hit 104.9. One more degree and it was brain damage or death. She smashed the window. The dog lived. The owner got arrested. The law stood with the woman who acted.

Virginia does not.

Here, if a regular citizen does the exact same thing, the owner can sue you for the glass. Officers and animal control have immunity. You do not. You can get charged with property damage while the person who left the animal roasting walks. That is pure cowardice written into law. It tells every decent Virginian that property matters more than a living creature dying in plain sight.

This isn’t complicated. Call the police first. Document it. Use only what’s necessary. But when the animal is clearly dying and help is still minutes away, the law should protect the person who steps up, not punish them.
