My biggest concern isn’t just the Supreme Court’s birthright citizenship ruling.
It’s the voting pattern.
Three conservative appointed justices sided against Trump’s position:
- John Roberts
- Amy Coney Barrett
- Brett Kavanaugh
Now consider this:
On the major Trump cases, the liberal justices have consistently voted against him not 80% of the time, not 90%, but essentially every time.
Meanwhile, conservative appointed justices have crossed over far more often:
- Roberts: 10–15+ times
- Barrett: 8–12+ times (Trump appointee)
- Kavanaugh: 6–10+ times (Trump appointee)
- Gorsuch: 4–8+ times (Trump appointee)
- Thomas: 0–2 times
- Alito: 0–2 times
Call it judicial independence or inconsistency, that’s up to you.
My concern is this: WHEN the Court eventually has a liberal majority, what issues will be next?
How different will America look?
Elections matter.
@priyaee Because they now know their party is in a hostile takeover by DSA and AOC winning the nomination would all but seal the fate of the party. Ossoff is the establishment attempt to appeal to young voters. It won’t work.
@AleatoryAge@RepThomasMassie Don’t know what you’re referring to but, this isn’t new or all that radical. The Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation is perfect example here in the US but other countries also do this. Norway has a similar fund for North Sea oil as well.
Sovereign Wealth earmarked for the public good is a concept the US should embrace. These companies thrived and innovated here because of the inherent advantage of our system and the American People who support it. The country deserves some equity as a result.
Republicans decrying communist involvement in the Democrat party just looked the other way when this administration nationalized ownership of these private companies:
• Intel 10%
• MP Materials 15%
• Lithium Americas 5%
• Trilogy Metals 10%
• U.S. Steel “golden share”
@emilyjashinsky@ryangrim I’m genuinely curious about where the two of you actually have common ground. I really think Mr. Grim has misguided views and sometimes I question his intent. You, although somewhat vaguely, seem to align more with my world view. I’d really like to see a talk beween you on this.
I used to say this when I began to fight for our open spaces at local town board meetings.
I didn’t get why they’re putting the panels on prime farmland.
And then I began an 8 month long investigative look into the “green” energy industry.
The only thing green about green energy is the disgusting amounts of money being laundered between corrupt American politicians and foreign corporations.
Why do they target farmland?
4 reasons. A solar salesman told me this:
1) the land is already flattened / cleared so they can get the panels in quicker
2) the scalability… the more acres covered, the more subsidies and credits earned
3) solar companies count on rural Americans being “too dumb” to have an attorney review the contracts
4) solar companies know rural towns don’t have the funds to enlist legal help to stop the complexes
This doesn't just hurt Haitian & Syrian immigrants—it hurts all our communities.
Hundreds of thousands of TPS holders work in fields already facing labor shortages, from health care, to manufacturing, to agriculture. These are vetted members of our community who have lived and worked here for decades, feeding our neighborhoods, caring for our seniors, and raising their families.
Congress must stop this cruelty and step up to pass a permanent pathway to citizenship.
These people are the misguided plague doctors of America’s political disease. Their bloodletting since 2016 has been a “cure” far worse than the “disease.” Trump was always going away eventually but, the damage they’ve done in their hysteria will endure.
It will be at least 40 years before our loved and lovely America recovers from the wounds this selfish, stupid, and ego-driven man has inflicted. That it will recover seems certain to me, but it will leave scars.
