@RogersHistory I am a school Counsellor and I totally agree. I have total empathy for the teacher position. It is not the same at all and I am constantly amazed that parents or health practitioners outside of schools don’t appreciate this fact. Being 1-1 with me is not the same as a classroom!
Who uses SRSD Writing to learn? It has apparently a great research base but I don’t see much mention of it being used in classrooms. I am in Australia though. I’d love your thoughts!
@St__Evens @Miss_Snuffy I’d be happy for my son to experience silent corridors and not be bullied and to receive the excellent teaching that this school provides for the students.
@locdeducator Do you consider how it is for people in isolated roles? There is no recognition in our school of the Counsellor role except when included as a teacher! If you are feeling unrecognised then adding to other people not getting recognised does not help.
@Brad1968 Super disappointing! Some teachers often don’t “like” things that students need and/or they lack the right knowledge to make the best choices. Busy work or colouring activities can be privileged over quality teaching of reading, writing and maths.
@TylerABallard@adamboxer1 Yes agree. I have worked as another professional (psychologist) and with others in health, in accounting, in manufacturing etc. We all worked hard and did work and PD outside our hours. I totally agree teaching is hard and we work hard but so do many others.
@DrMPaff I am with you Michael. Also a school psychologist with a team focused on improving Tier 1! We don’t stay quiet about this and in many ways it is the support staff driving changes to Tier 1 as we clearly see we can’t intervene our way out of it!
@ehanford@plthomasEdD SOR is pro teacher knowledge! Teachers deserve knowledge about the best ways to teach and for students to learn. It is anti-teacher to deprive. Also, this knowledge is for all teachers public or private.
