World passenger. In constant search for the true freedom behind having choices. (Im)patiently awaiting for the mighty Ducati V4S to arrive. 1198 & 1199 in a nap
"Song 2" got its name because it was literally the second song Blur recorded for the album Blur (1997). Damon Albarn improvised the "WOO-HOO!" during a take, as a joke to mock the heavy and aggressive sound of American grunge.
The label wanted to release something more "commercial" as a single, but the band insisted on releasing this short, noisy and chaotic track, and eventually became the biggest international hit of Blur's career.
Bassist Tim Commerford confessed that at first he thought "Like a Stone" was a romantic song and only understood the real meaning when Cornell explained it! It was the second single from Audioslave's debut album and became the band's biggest hit: #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock and Modern Rock charts, #31 on the Hot 100 and is, to date, the most streamed track of Chris Cornell's entire career (over 1 billion plays on Spotify).
One of the most extreme piston engines ever built is the Pratt & Whitney R4360 Wasp Major.
A 28 cylinder, four row radial engine producing 3,000 Hp in early variants and over 4,000+ Hp in later iterations from 71 liters of displacement.
R-4360 Wasp burnt 25.5-26.5 liters per minute per engine at takeoff
It was developed during World War II for long range heavy bombers, but by the time it reached full operational maturity, the war had already ended.
Instead of CAD or computational simulation, it was designed entirely using slide rules, hand drafted blueprints, and physical prototyping, where every thermal and structural constraint was solved experimentally.
This Engine costed $35,000 - $50,000 per engine back in 1944-45 USD.
This engine marks the final peak of piston propulsion, built at the edge of manufacturable complexity before the jet age made it obsolete.
