Injured #Jawan is identified as 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗺 𝗗𝘂𝘁𝘁, 45, from Himachal Pradesh. Sugnu has faced recurring armed attacks for three days. Last year, violence in Sugnu destroyed homes and claimed lives, prompting villagers to seek refuge in relief camps.

For the past nine months, Manipur has witnessed a disturbing surge in #Kuki terrorism, marked by blatant violations of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement.

#KukiMmilitants, who are on ceasefire under the SoO agreement, have repeatedly violated the agreement resorting to egregious acts of violence and criminality. The pillars of peace have been shattered as they engage in wanton killings, extortion, kidnappings, and operate drug cartels with impunity. The very essence of the SoO agreement, aimed at fostering stability and dialogue, has been defiled by their actions.

Moreover, the resurgence of arms smuggling, fresh recruitments, and illegal trade activities underscores the urgency of the situation. Their empty camps serve as breeding grounds for further chaos and unrest, posing a grave threat to the fabric of Manipuri society.

In light of these egregious violations and escalating terror, its time to abrogate the SoO agreement. Continuing to uphold an agreement that has been flagrantly violated only emboldens the perpetrators and undermines the rule of law. The safety and security of Manipur and India must take precedence over any diplomatic niceties.
