I am deeply disappointed with the current situation in our branches, especially urban branches, where pendency has become a never-ending challenge.
I deal primarily with loans, and I completely understand that routine operational work is also part of our responsibilities. However, the real frustration begins when office hours keep extending late into the evening. A bank gives us our livelihood so that we can live happily with our families, children, and loved ones. Sadly, the increasing workload is instead giving us stress and frustration, which, knowingly or unknowingly, we carry back home and sometimes take out on the people closest to us.
I have just one question for the management: Will this ever end, or will the workload continue to grow at the same pace?
Across many branches, there is a shortage of manpower, yet the expectation is zero pendency in every area: limitation, insurance, CKYC, DMS, loan compliances, daily targets, CM YUVA accounts, NPS, and many other activities. Is it realistically possible to complete every KYC in a single day while simultaneously handling customer queries, documentation, loan processing, compliance work, and the continuous flow of new responsibilities?
Many people say, “Do it on a daily basis.” But how? Every day brings fresh work, new customer queries, urgent issues, and additional responsibilities. Before one task is completed, several new ones are added.
One simple example: earlier, loans could be disbursed without a prior PDC, but now the system does not permit it. If such system-based controls can be introduced for loan disbursement, why can’t similar solutions be implemented for KYC? Why not automatically restrict transactions in accounts with pending KYC so that customers are required to visit the branch and complete the process? This would reduce pendency significantly and ease the burden on branch staff.
This is not a complaint. It is a genuine appeal from someone working at the ground level. I sincerely hope the management considers the practical realities of branch banking and focuses on providing adequate manpower, realistic expectations, and better system support. Sometimes, someone has to speak up, not to criticize, but to highlight the challenges that thousands of branch employees face every single day.
Always a supporter of the organisation and its management. My intention is only to bring forward the genuine concerns faced at the ground level for better improvement and a healthier working environment.

Nation before self — bankers have always delivered.
But denying them a 5-day week is sheer discrimination.
Enough is enough.

Once the Government’s intent is crystal clear that 5-Day Banking won’t be approved easily, UFBU must stop buying time.
Momentum is on our side NOW.
👉 Announce a multi-day strike in February itself.
March meetings will only dilute anger, unity, and pressure.

India speaks of productivity, efficiency, and ease of doing business. Then why cling to an outdated 6-day work week for bankers?
Modern banking needs modern work norms.
