ONE COUNTRY. TWO REALITIES.
For too long, the world has been shown carefully curated images of Eritrea—clean streets, festivals, and smiling faces—while millions of Eritreans inside the country continue to live under severe restrictions on their freedoms. Many members of the diaspora genuinely love their homeland and families, but some also amplify narratives that portray Eritrea as entirely safe and prosperous while dismissing or denying the experiences of Eritreans who describe repression, indefinite national service, arbitrary detention, censorship, or forced exile.
The voices that matter most are those of the Eritrean people themselves.
There is a profound difference between visiting Eritrea under controlled conditions and living there every day. The reality for many Eritreans includes limited freedom of expression, uncertainty about the future, and the inability to openly criticize those in power without fear of consequences. These are experiences documented over many years by international human rights organizations and repeatedly shared by Eritreans both inside and outside the country.
This is why DA’ERONA – A Global Eritrean Movement for Justice, Freedom, and Human Rights exists.
Da’erona is not a movement against Eritrea. It is a movement for Eritrea—for the dignity of every Eritrean, regardless of political opinion, religion, ethnicity, gender, or where they live. We believe that patriotism means standing with the people, not remaining silent when fundamental rights are denied.
Our mission is to:
• Amplify the voices of Eritreans.
• Expose human rights abuses and transnational repression.
• Promote peaceful democratic change.
• Defend justice, accountability, and the rule of law.
• Unite Eritreans around a future built on freedom, dignity, and respect for human rights.
The Blue Revolution symbolizes hope over fear, truth over propaganda, and unity over division. It represents a new generation of Eritreans determined to build a country where no one is imprisoned for speaking their mind, where young people are free to pursue their dreams, and where every citizen enjoys equal rights under the law.
The Blue Revolution is not about hatred or revenge. It is about courage, peaceful advocacy, reconciliation, and creating an Eritrea where future generations can live without fear.
History shows that no system built on fear lasts forever. Change begins when ordinary people choose truth over silence and solidarity over intimidation.
To Eritreans around the world: let us listen to those whose voices are hardest to hear. Let us support justice without dehumanizing one another. Let us build a future where every Eritrean can live with freedom, dignity, and hope.
One people. One future. One free Eritrea.

Congratulations to Us. Our Voices Matter. The international community has once again recognized the serious human rights situation in Eritrea. 23 countries voted YES, 17 abstained, and only 6 voted NO on the UN Human Rights Council resolution. This is a reminder that the Eritrean people’s call for justice, freedom, dignity, and accountability cannot be ignored. The Blue Revolution represents a peaceful movement for democratic change and a future where every Eritrean can live without fear. 💙

Today at the Oslo Freedom Forum, Yirgalem Fisseha speaks not only for herself, but for thousands of #Eritrea|ns whose voices have been silenced by repression.
A journalist, poet, and former political prisoner, Yirgalem endured years of imprisonment, torture, and solitary confinement after being arrested by the Eritrean regime. She was held without trial, denied justice, and subjected to conditions that no human being should ever experience. Despite these attempts to break her spirit, she emerged as a powerful voice for truth, freedom, and human dignity. (https://t.co/6X6hSA094Y)
Her testimony reminds the world of the suffering endured by countless Eritreans who have faced arbitrary detention, forced silence, indefinite national service, and the constant fear of persecution. Many remain imprisoned without charge, while others have been forced to flee their homeland in search of freedom and safety.
By sharing her story at the Oslo Freedom Forum, Yirgalem shines a light on the realities that many Eritreans continue to face. Her courage stands as a testament to the resilience of those who refuse to surrender their humanity in the face of oppression.
May her voice inspire the world to stand with the victims of injustice and support the universal struggle for freedom, human rights, and dignity for all Eritreans. 🇪🇷
