The highway connecting Baler to Dinadiawan was completed destroyed by surge. Below are before and after images of this highway. In less than 30 hours they have somehow cleared a 1 way path for people finally pass through. Heavy equipment is working nonstop but it could take months to repair.

Stunning.
This has to be some of the best footage of a plane emerging into the centre of a hurricane I’ve ever seen.
Meteorologically, Melissa is absolutely textbook.
This footage from inside the eye of Category 5 Hurricane Melissa might be the most jaw-dropping video ever captured of a hurricane’s eye, showcasing the infamous “stadium effect."
💧A couple of inches of sea-level rise won't make much difference, right?
❌WRONG!
🐟 Ocean-related hazards have long-term, cascading impacts. We need to understand the effects of rising seas so that we can act to reduce risks. 💡

Let’s break the chain. Stop saying NATURAL disasters—and others will follow. 💡
There’s no such thing as a natural disaster! ❌ A hurricane, earthquake, or flood is a natural HAZARD – but DISASTERS only happen when people are unprotected, exposed, vulnerable.

Through strategic cooperation, #Korea has actively supported #ASEAN in disaster management, including through building regional capacity.
One of the key flagship initiatives supported by Korea, through the @akcf_pmt, is the ASEAN Standards and Certification for Experts in Disaster Management (ASCEND). This programme aims to develop a pool of certified disaster management professionals across ASEAN, promoting interoperability, mutual recognition, and effective cross-border response.
Following the successful implementation of #ASCEND Phase I, the AHA Centre, with the continued support from the Republic of Korea, proudly launches ASCEND Phase II.

On 5 April, the fifth batch of #ASEAN relief items—tarpaulins and kitchen sets—arrived in Nay Pyi Taw to support communities affected by the M7.7 #earthquake in #Myanmar. Dispatched from the DELSA regional warehouse in Subang, Malaysia, the items were transported by the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF).
The handover of the ASEAN relief items between the AHA Centre and Myanmar was witnessed by the Honourable Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia and the ASEAN Chair. The AHA Centre is also in close coordination with DDM Myanmar and partners for further mobilisation of the upcoming batches of the relief items.
In addition, ASEAN-ERAT members from all 10 ASEAN Member States are currently on the ground in Myanmar, conducting rapid assessments, coordinating efforts, and facilitating incoming relief.
We remain in close coordination with DDM Myanmar, DDPM Thailand, ASEAN Member States, and partners to ensure a unified and effective disaster response.
Thank you to all partners for standing with us in these challenging times!

After nearly 18 months of war, nearly one million children in Gaza have been repeatedly displaced and deprived of their right to basic services.
The world must not stand by and allow the killing and suffering of children in Gaza to continue.
South Korean actress Kim Go-eun has donated 50 million won (approximately US$42,000) to help Myanmar children and other victims of Friday’s 7.7 magnitude earthquake, said Good Neighbors, a global NGO specializing in children's rights, and Korean media. #WhatsHappeningInMyanmar
Small towns and villages in the earthquake affected areas are mostly in ruins but still underreported.
In a small town #Innwa, near Mandalay, the connection bridge collapsed and locals need urgent water supply.

“The search for survivors has been primarily conducted by the local residents without the aid of heavy equipment, moving rubble by hand and with shovels in 41-degree Celsius heat”. Such pain, such heroes. #WhatsHappeninglnMyanmar
