✅First Lady Jeannette Kagame said no child, wherever they live, should ever feel that opportunities are reserved for only a few because talent does not choose where someone is born.

✅She said this as she inaugurated the first Imbuto Hub in Nyamata, Bugesera District, on Friday, July 24.

✅The community centre is the first in a planned nationwide network of Imbuto Hubs that will provide integrated education, health, vocational training, digital skills and family support services for children, young people and families across the country.

✅Speaking at the launch, the First Lady said the initiative is built on the belief that every individual has the potential to succeed when given the right opportunities, support and values.

✅The First Lady said the launch of the Imbuto Hub marks a new chapter for the Imbuto Foundation after 25 years of investing in education, health and youth empowerment.

✅She noted that the organisation is now bringing its programmes together in community-based centres that can support people throughout different stages of life.

✅Reflecting on Imbuto Foundation's journey, the First Lady said its greatest achievements are measured not by infrastructure but by the lives that have been transformed through education, mentorship and opportunities.

✅Rwanda’s push to use artificial intelligence (AI) to improve public data systems has gained global attention after a locally developed solution for faster employment statistics was recognised at the recently concluded AI for Good Global Summit 2026.

✅The NISR received the Innovative Project for Impact Award for its AI-Assisted Coding of Multilingual Job Descriptions for Faster Employment Statistics project, which uses artificial intelligence to classify job and economic activity descriptions in Kinyarwanda, English and French.

✅The AI-powered tool is designed to accelerate the processing of Labour Force Survey data by automating the coding of job descriptions, a critical step in producing employment statistics.

✅The innovation is expected to improve efficiency, reduce processing time and strengthen the production of timely official statistics for policy and planning.

✅The award was announced during Innovate for Impact 2026, a programme under the AI for Good platform by the ITU that identifies and supports AI solutions developed to address real-world challenges.

✅NISR’s project was among innovations recognised for its ability to address local needs while offering a model that can be adapted to other contexts.

✅The use of multilingual AI is particularly significant in environments where language diversity can create challenges for data processing and digital services.

✅NISR said the recognition reflects the Government of Rwanda’s visionary leadership and commitment to leveraging artificial intelligence to strengthen the production of official statistics.

✅Rwanda’s recognition at the summit demonstrates how locally developed technologies can contribute to global efforts to use artificial intelligence for social and economic progress.
