Assistant Professor of Neuroscience and Biomedical Engineering (@AUB_Lebanon). PhD @UChicago, @FSU Postdoc @UChicago, researching #learning and #memory.
Published in @iScience_CP! We show how inhibitory delay loops, rebound currents, and circuit timing help the #brain link sensory events across hundreds of milliseconds into stimulus-specific responses.

The brain’s magic lies in weaving the brief into the beautiful. Led by my PhD student Ms. Zeina Merabi, we explored how auditory neurons integrate sequential stimuli across extended timescales. @MSFEA_AUB@about_songbird@AUB_Lebanon

Led by my research assistant at @Stanford, we explored how changes in temperature affect the way neurons fire and communicate, and uncovered some fascinating mathematical patterns that help explain how brain cells respond to stress. @MSFEA_AUB

These studies really push the state of the art and bring clear benefit to patients. What an exciting time!
I am filled with utter shock and sadness as my UChicago colleague, friend, inspiring young scientist and good human being, @slimanjbensmaia , passed away today. This is a big loss for his family, friends and the field of neuroscience. My love and thoughts go to his family. 💔
It’s a wrap! My PhD students did a great job presenting their work to the community! It’s been a busy week of great science and reconnecting with colleagues and friends! Thanks @SfNtweets for a great conference! 🧠@MSFEA_AUB
