I like serial commas, bold patterns, advice columns, long walks, museums, menus, learning about a lot of things and teaching about some. Same @bsky. She/her.
One of the challenges of D.C.’s ample school choice is that many more people travel distances to get to school. And if you’ve ever witnessed a drop-off line at a school, you’ll understand how drivers can be *very* impatient and do dangerous things.
It's also worth noting that going 36 mph in a 25 mph zone is going to be significantly more dangerous for vulnerable people, whether kids or seniors. And since 25 mph is pretty standard for residential areas, speeding their is putting kids and seniors at risk.
"Results show that the average risk of severe injury for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle reaches 10% at an impact speed of 16 mph, 25% at 23 mph, 50% at 31 mph, 75% at 39 mph, and 90% at 46 mph."

@wmataGM@wmata@Metrorailinfo@Metrobusinfo Another year in the top .5% for me! I missed out on the control center tour last year but would love if you did it again...
Everyone with clear moral consciousness must speak out, fight back, and resist attempts to rig our elections and militarize our cities. We cannot normalize it or shrink from it. I’m inspired by the thousands of Americans saying “hell no” right now, from DC to TX to California.
@himbopresident@offbeatorbit For me, it’s because the reels expire, so I don’t want to miss something if I’m only spending limited time. And the feed isn’t time-stamped and bounces, so I can never see what I want to see in the moment.
1. I've said exactly this for quite some time. Expanding on Adrian's point here, Covid-19 has three distinct characteristics as a disease that enables it to be denied at a societal level.
@LukeEpplin Ours slept straight from DC to Cleveland in the car after getting 4 vaccines at his 12-month checkups. Vaccines are amazing for many reasons!
Imma speak from the heart about the pointlessly destructive attacks on Harvard and other universities.
I may be a bit lost for how to find the right words, but I do hope you'll get a sense of what I'm trying to say.
@aliciaandrz This sucks and is, unfortunately, so routine. You might find Crip Spacetime to be an affirming and clarifying read about the decision and struggle to obtain accommodations, and the toll it takes: https://t.co/oeAirrJ6e9
Scientists have just cured pancreatic cancer in some patients with personalized mRNA vaccines. Pancreatic cancer. And this Trump administration wants to throw it all away.. They’re throwing away a cure for cancer. https://t.co/oeLq3Odegs
