@Telegraph Why is #LoanCharge disaster?: Is it unfair Disguised Retrospection, because HMRC failed chasing legal loans as PAYE-income taxable, or as it doesn't target loan promoters, or the settlements seemingly modelled on worst payday lender interest terms, beyond means of most families?
@Telegraph Worst legislation indeed. It targets the wrong people, does nothing to stop the practice that HMRC doesn't like and has killed 10 honest people who did nothing wrong. @Jeremy_Hunt@RishiSunak the buck stops with you!
@Telegraph Loan Charge part of the problem. HMRC’s misleading of public & MPs is another. FOI’s show they know it has “no legal basis”, and the “independent” Morse review was anything but. They still refuse some FOI requests, knowing full disclosure would expose their lies & incompetence.
@Telegraph Apart from misery for normal people, the #LoanCharge has achieved literally nothing against promoters, who continue to market the schemes. In fact, HMRC own data shows (despite a ‘clever’ chart) the number of disguised remuneration schemes has more than doubled since 2013.
@Telegraph Thank you so much for covering this. If only @rishisunak could be bothered to understand the #LoanChargeScandal and the misery it's caused for tens of thousands, all to cover up for the incompetence of HMRC.
On 19 January 2023, AML Tax (UK) was featured on HMRC's name and shame list of "Current list of named tax avoidance schemes, promoters, enablers and suppliers"

We submitted a complaint about Arthur Lancaster to the ICAEW in March of last year, after a judgement of the Upper Tier Tax Tribunal found AML Tax (UK) failed to comply with an information notice issued by HMRC and fined the company £150,000.

@Xenophales1 Few months ago heard from a guy who spoke to him & identified himself as PM and is still hanging around Chania, Crete frequenting a steak & grill bar called the Roadhouse sometimes with wads of cash to support his habit. Also, trading as RomanTax & blocks any that challenge him

@RuthCadbury Awful to see The House of Lords undermined in this way when so many there are intelligent, passionate and empathetic.
I can only imagine how frustrating it is as an MP to see this up closely.
Thank you for your advocacy Ruth.
