And the governments of the world's self-described democracies continued to supply the weapons.

And the platforms continued to suppress the content.

And the people continued to scroll.

And the weapons continued to arrive.

We live in the first era of human history where it is possible to watch, in real time, the killing of a people, to see their faces, to hear their voices, to watch the moment the building falls, and for all that visibility to produce almost nothing.

Almost nothing.

No Nuremberg.

No intervention.

Hashtags. Protests that were permitted and then ignored. A ceasefire resolution vetoed. More weapons authorized.

If visibility alone could stop power, Gaza would have stopped it.

Which means we need to stop telling ourselves that awareness is the same as action.

A boy describes being unable to speak for what he had seen: he was wounded and his cousin killed, not by the first strike but by a second that hit the same street moments later, as he pulled himself clear and kept walking. The double blast follows a pattern documented throughout the assault on Gaza, in which an initial strike is followed by a second on the same spot as rescuers and survivors gather, multiplying the dead among those who come to help.

The government excuse for not doing the data linkage study feels like a lie, and is at best disingenuous.

The data linkage study was recommended in the Cass Review published in April 2024. The Review team had tried to conduct it but adult gender clinics had withheld the data. The then-SoS for Health took a legal step to facilitate data release and linkage, and urged the clinics to comply. No one mentioned ethical approval.

A puberty blockers trial was also recommended but not detailed. That has since been designed and approved, and is being delayed only by legal challenges.
