The biggest problem of venture capital right now is we have made entrepreneurship too safe a career path.
Starting a company should be for the crazy, for the obsessed.
Instead, it is for the rational.
Leave top tier university, raise VC. Own your own time, work on something interesting and pay yourself well.
We need to go back to the ones who only do this because they cannot bare to not see their creation in the world.
"We do these things not because they are easy, but because we thought they were going to be easy" is a surprisingly profound quote. When I ask people who've pulled off remarkable things, it's interesting how many confirm that they wouldn't have started if they'd know how long and difficult the road would be.
As you know, my explorations of the Gen AI space is ultimately all about creative control. You should be able to shape the generative matter using all your artistic sensibilities and your aesthetic sense.
OpenAI's Sora is a huge technological leap, but what excites me the most about it is the modalities where it depends on input other than text alone. Such as video to video. Here's an example of how Sora can change an input video.

For many years, Bill Gates used to fly Economy, not because he couldn’t afford First Class, but because he didn’t consider it good value. It’s five or six times more expensive, but only marginally better (and you all get to your destination at the same time).
In the same vein, I could afford a really nice car at this point, but I’ve never been a car guy, and I don’t need a Lamborghini or a Mazerati (which I can’t even spell). A Volvo station wagon does the job just fine, and I wouldn’t value the difference. I don’t need to drop $1000 on a bottle of wine at dinner either, since I know I’ll get the same enjoyment from a $35 bottle.
So what is wealth good for, in the end? Besides providing security, it also gives flexibility. After all of the experiences I’ve had, the most important thing I’ve learned about money is that, once you have enough (by the previous definition), you can choose to have less of it in exchange for choosing how to spend your time. And spending your time doing something meaningful to you…that’s worth way more than a Mazerati.
As I said to my students yesterday; the Dunning Kruger Effect is something everyone experiences, and I’m no different, and it’s often with them that I make the greatest leaps… #learning#feynman
I'm not claiming experienced founders are humble. In fact a certain amount of overconfidence is probably a prerequisite for the job. But even in the best case startups knock you around so much that no experienced founder has anything like the arrogance some founders start with.
How to make Asteroids game with GPT-4
and your own A.I. generated textures.
1. Write this prompt in GPT-4: "write p5.js code for Asteroids where you control a spaceship with the mouse and shoot asteroids with the left click of the mouse. If your spaceship collides with an asteroid, you lose. If you shoot down all asteroids, you win! I want to use my own textures for the spaceship and for asteroids."
2. Go to https://t.co/UhTVJr378f create and save sketch (you'll need to save it before uploading any texture files). Copy paste code from GPT-4
3. Generate texture files (I used Midjourney) using these prompts:
asteroid prompt: "asteroid, single object, game asset, sci fi ship, items, rpg, d&d, dungeons and dragons, pathfinder, diablo, item sprite, icon, polished, 3d render, high quality, premium, unreal engine, medieval, amazing detail, high fantasy"
spaceship prompt: "spaceship, single object, game asset, sci fi ship, items, rpg, d&d, dungeons and dragons, pathfinder, diablo, item sprite, icon, polished, 3d render, high quality, premium, unreal engine, medieval, amazing detail, high fantasy"
galaxy prompt: "green nebula galaxy background, blurry --ar 3:2"
Use https://t.co/AWQgekBRul to remove backgrounds before uploading images to OpenProcessing
4. Replace names of files with your filenames
5. Run the program
6. If something doesn't work ask GPT-4 to fix it (you can copy an error and paste in GPT-4) like you would ask a human programmer
7. To learn a bit of programming write these prompts to GPT-4:
"Act as my programming teacher. Tell me an algorithm of Asteroids game in detail and make names of functions and explain what each of these functions will do. Don't write the code just yet."
and then " Can you describe the algorithm overall for a 10-year-old child"
I'm making a series of tutorials on how to make games and learn programming in a fun way with GPT-4 (first with p5.js and then Unity). In case it's hard for you to follow this instruction wait for my upcoming beginner's tutorial.
