@statsepi e.g we know a lot about mutagens present in tobacco smoke after the initial epi studies of lung cancer, and this has been relevant beyond lung cancer
@statsepi Whilst I wouldn't characterise it as 'getting lucky', lots of epidemiology stems from initial observations that we then try to explain. Ecological studies, migrant studies etc leading to knowledge of possibly broad relevance.
@dan_p_simpson Congrats! Melbourne is a great place to be but Monash are lucky to have you all the same. If you need Melbourne tips that are at least eight years out of date, I'm your man

@ProfDFrancis IQR hsTnT concentrations suggest at least 75% >3, which is incompatible with the 'proportion detectable' row. I'm guessing that they report the median and IQR of values within the limits of detection.
Research charities like @CRUK_Policy are vital for UK science and research.
But Covid-19 has caused catastrophic funding cuts and slowed down medical advances that save lives.
Now MPs have written to @RishiSunak to ask for support https://t.co/2FPFDIztQi
