Just finished reading An Elegant Puzzle: Systems of Engineering Management. Lots of gems, but would love a refreshed version that would reflect the current realities after the end of the ZIRP era.

Tried to switch to Vivaldi, went back to Arc. What other browser does workspaces the way arc does, with the ability to choose a different profile per workspace.
Best place I worked in terms of code quality was JetBrains.
Every PR I submitted had like 50+ comments from my mentor on how to improve my code.
Some might say it’s a toxic culture. But the key point is those comments weren’t rude. I really felt like my IQ grows two points every second.
Code quality was unmatched there. The only place where the code was really close to being self-documented.
We do the same at 37. Pull requests, especially for more junior staff, is littered with even the most pedantic comments. Style matters. Linters don't capture it all. You learn by being shown the way. This shouldn't be controversial or seen as "toxic".
Second ebook is from Manning, "Elixir in Action, Third Edition", not sure why that book in particular, but it's just because that's one of the ebooks that I could afford with the remaining balance of that virtual cc XD
My employer sent me a virtual credit card for doing some summersaults at work, but it kept on getting declined when I tried to use it in lazada :(
Ended up buying some ebooks and yet another license of a "you can use it for free, but will pester you like winrar" app (@shottr_cc)
@shottr_cc First ebook is "An Elegant Puzzle: Systems of Engineering Management", which I think needs a refresh because it seems to have been written during the ZIRP era of hypergrowth :| Would've benefitted more if it glossed over the topic of balancing between innovation and revenue
Nag mass forward ng kung ano ano ung anak ko sa instagram, pati sa mga taong di ko kinakausap for more than a decade. Gusto ko idelete instagram account ko 🤣
“The more senior you are, the more you'll be expected to organize and publish at the next level.”
Absolutely loved the Produce/Organize/Publish framework by @shreyas that @GergelyOrosz mentions on his recently launched book.
Produce -> Organize -> Publish (or Self-Promote)
Signs that you belong to the "oldies" group:
If you need to be careful about the references you use on the jokes you plan to make when you're around new hires that have less than 5 years of exp.
@Purplyana :( ako pa naman, gusto mag stay neutral sa issue even though I used to work sa Israeli company (so I am bombarded with their side of the story). Pero one thing is for sure, whoever deliberately targets innocent people is evil.
Less than a week since OpenAI started rolling out ChatGPT vision.
And people have been busy executing god-like tasks.
