Students are devastated after two student leaders from Rohtak issue a video and a copy of original handwritten question paper made by the makers went viral on 6th July. The PDF creation meta data shows 30th June 4:08am and the exam was held on 30th June 3pm. This has created severe moral panic raising doubts on how the original paper copy was found and where all they have gotten circulated. @NTA_Exams@ugc_india please take cognisance of this matter and issue an official statement asap on what are the aspirants supposed to do now? If there is any truth to such severe allegations then please let us know. We all are helpless and broken at this point.
Would anyone working on/around the #anthropology of caste be interested in coming together as a loose reading and research group?
Keen to connect with scholars, ECRs and researchers thinking through caste, ethnography, everyday life and social worlds. Also happy to join if such a forum already exists.
please feel to Dm/email [email protected]
Didn’t think I would have to reopen X after this long for something this pathetic. The recent NTA NET Sociology exam held on 30th June’26 crossed all limits of academic deceit and accountability. Not even getting started on the irregularity of the paper asking AI generated questions, random thinkers and books not even remotely associated with the syllabus provided. This is where the last nail on the coffin was comes. 50% of the paper had terrible spelling errors and grammatically disastrous sentence formation. Thinkers like ‘Ritzer’ was replaced as ‘Putzer’, ‘social’ was given as ‘oval’, ‘Parsons’ as ‘Parsow’, ‘Ghurye’ as ‘Ghunye’, A R Desai as ‘A K Desai’, ‘Nussbaum’ as ‘Nusbaut’ and many more. The Hindi translation of the questions were framed as if translated by a 5 year old. Students could not even understand the questions, let alone attempt them. Half the time went in literally making sense of what nonsense was scribbled in the name of a paper like NET which is literally supposed to make you eligible for Asst Prof/PhD admissions. Is this some joke? Call the profs who framed this paper to sit and attempt. @NTA_Exams how low are you guys willing to go to make Indian Higher Education drown? We cannot at any cost accept this paper. @EduMinOfIndia@ugc_india

Liberal Savarna ecosystem - media, activists, lawyers, intellectuals - can follow a Dalit leader and chant Jai Bhim after him. That's a happy sight. I'll like to see though what happens when Dipke talks about atrocities and reservation someday. Everybody loves a non-Dalit Dalit.
'Freebies' to the poor increase India Inc's profits.
Here's how it works:
The state takes care of half of a worker's living expenses, so corporates have to only pay the remaining half as wages.
This keeps wages low across the economy, helping lower the cost of producing raw materials and inputs as well.
So two key costs – wages and inputs – remain low.
At the same time, the central bank keeps interest rates suppressed.
This makes it cheaper for governments to borrow and spend on 'freebies' while simultaneously keeping corporate taxes low.
Corporates also find it easier to borrow from PSU banks and invest to expand their businesses.
So all four key business expenses – wages to workers, cost of inputs, cost of finance, and taxes – are kept low.
What is the net impact?
High corporate profits.
The problem is that propping up the extremes – the poor and the rich – hits the middle, and they are unable to buy things.
That, in turn, reduces demand for goods and services, pushing down corporate revenues.
What's the solution to that?
Government contracts – overt and covert – to select business houses, giving them a steady revenue source and an assured rate of profit.
This is how the entire system works.
Freebies are not meant to help the poor move to the middle.
They help the richest become even richer.
Why are water cannons reserved only for Congress protesters?
There were none at the Cockroach Party protest today.
Is the government too wary of a new Gen Z movement to use force, or does it simply not take it seriously?
