Today the No Arena coalition let everyone know what we think about the Center City Sixers arena no longer haunting our city. This coalition is made up of people from all across the city, from all different backgrounds, who came together to fight for a city that works for everyone
This is a damning of democracy and they should be ashamed of themselves.
Not one apology was given to Philadelphians from any of them. The arrogance and brovado displayed lacked the humanity and consideration that should be expected of our leaders.
Real leadership demands of honesty and humility. We didn't get that at this absurd and bizzare press conference today.
On the 76ers news conference: The fact that Mayor Parker & Council Pres Johnson didn't acknowledge they have egg on their faces and, even more importantly, didn't acknowledge the pain & turmoil the Chinatown community was put through as a result of this process is mind-boggling🧵
This is what happens when you let billionaires control your urban planning and buy your government officials and politicians. They get what they want and screw over everyone else. Love to see the politicians spin this one...

There is more news we are expecting to come out in the coming hours and days, but for now let's celebrate because they will not be building an arena in the heart of our city!

stop the lies.
it is obvious that anyone, including union workers, saying a sixers arena will bring "more business" to chinatown are prioritizing TEMPORARY work in building the arena but leaving out that it will carelessly DESTROY the surrounding area.

She hid our reply, so let's say it here:
This is a sellout deal and you know it @cmninaahmad. You caved to billionaires, sold out the people you claimed to represent, and barely got two dimes to rub together for it. What an embarrassment.
@sbcmw@anna_orso Whose timeline is this? If I were on council I would be pissed at all the time I am wasting waiting for people who want something from me. Doesn’t Council need to work on schools and Septa and what constituents need and stuff like that? 🙄
@denisethewriter@sixers@PhillyMayor Ummm…I think each developer personally is worth $2-6 billion -after a google search. Their private equity firms are worth much more than that. They are saying $100 billion for taking all the properties on Market Street. A $300 million CBA should be the floor, not the ceiling.
