Paying nerds to mess around with lasers in a basement studying magnetic fields is how we got MRI. They had no idea of impact of possible applications at the time of the research.

MRI is one of the most lifesaving technologies and universally valuable.

And I was really pleased seing that ther were people saying that there were already a couple of instruments in the process of being adquired. We had to wait unil the official annoucement came from the school. But let me tell you that it's alive! :)

Next! While I heard that this years ASMS 2025 came with the new version of the Orbitrap Astral I remember that back in 2023 when it first came up there were some comments saying that we wouldn't have that type of instrumentation in LATAM. 1/2
