@colking@BBCNews Where did you get your information about massive amounts of money the service has been cut to the bone the crews work extremely hard in challenging circumstances so unless you have first hand experience of the job don’t criticise them
🚨 Nationwide Emergency Alert Test — Sunday 7th September, 3pm

“🚒 Last night I attended the SFRS Public Consultation on the proposed changes to Balmossie station
🗣️ What should have been a session designed to seek public opinion and provide information to very concerned residents instead led to a room full of people feeling like the decision has been made and the consultation was merely a box ticking exercise
ℹ️ I raised concerns directly in the Q&A session regarding a total lack of information. Information missing included but was not limited too:-
• First response times being the only metric weighed into the cons (despite the initial presentation saying the SFRS shouldn't rely on this)
• No mention of future and developing risks such as climate change, electric lithium batteries, growing housing and population, an ageing demographic
• Response times presented in minutes rather than as a percentage making a 50-60% increase response time less obvious
• The fact that Balmossie is a modern station in excellent condition with no RAAC
• A vague reference to changes meaning more "fire safety resource" when both options will lead to local redundancy
• Graphs with absolutely no context or information on comparitors
🫂 Most gallingly, there was absolutely no mention at all of the work done by Balmossie within the community that keeps us all safer. A fire station with a relatively low incident rate means the community fire safety work is a massive success. Changing Balmossie means this work will slow down. SFRS believe that they can maintain this without a station but myself and everyone in the room know this is simply not the case. You cannot replace a local station manned firefighters known in their community with any other alternative. This point was repeatedly disregarded by the senior figures from SFRS
⛔ It's very clear that this public consultation and the information provided is not fit for purpose in any way. It was an exercise designed to pull the wool over the eyes of a community asking to choose between two options that make their lives less safe. SFRS must scrap these plans, keep Balmossie open and unchanged, and invest in community fire safety - not slash it to its bones
📝 There's still plenty of time for your voice to be heard - fill in the online consultation, follow Save Balmossie Fire & Ambulance Station Campaign, and keep shouting to us elected members and your MSPs” @fbunational@FBUScotNorth@FbuEast@WestScotlandFBU@FBU_Scotland_EC@AngusSproul@UnityConsults@fire_scot@scotgov@JohnSwinney@SaveBalmossie
🔥In 2023 Ross Haggart, Scotland's Chief Fire Officer said budget cuts and the removal of fire appliances and firefighters would risk lives..now in 2025 even more cuts are planned. Why is the Scottish Government standing back as communities and businesses are put at risk?🔥
🔥Ask your MSP to support the FBU campaign to prevent further cuts to the fire and rescue service.

🔥Fewer fire appliances and firefighters means greater danger for the people of Fife, Jamie MacDonald of the FBU told the Cowdenbeath councillors
"In our job minutes and seconds really do matter. I can't stress that enough. “They can make the difference between a fire in the home, it could be your home, becoming fully engulfed in flames."🔥👇@fbunational@FbuEast@WestScotlandFBU@FBUScotNorth@FBU_Scotland_EC@UnityConsults@scotgov@fire_scot@JohnSwinney

🔥FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICE CUTS INCREASES RISKS TO PUBLIC SAFETY🔥 FBU Scotland Regional Secretary, John McKenzie, warns “For over a decade real terms budget cuts have increased risks to public safety, with firefighter numbers slashed and response times increasing as a result... and when this time is lost, tragically the risk to lives increases” 🔥🚒 @fbunational@FBUScotNorth@FbuEast@WestScotlandFBU@fire_scot@scotgov@JohnSwinney@UnityConsults
