@ChennaiRains I hope they remove these restrictions. I just looked at the process, and they ask for way too much information, including some kind of certificate just to register. It feels overly complicated. It would be much better if their website were dynamic and updated with a modern design

@TNGeography Hope they make it available soon. No updates on the upcoming radars either. Looks like IMD is stuck in the 1990s. Their website also looks outdated. No HD satellite imagery, while even China and Russia provide their satellite data free of cost that covers Indian Ocean.

@ChennaiRains Other countries providing radar updates every 5 mins but only in india they say every 15 mins but they upload the data after 15 mins. Can't even say it's nowcast. No real time tracking 😞.

This map where raj mapped the actual rainfall days but you can look how some stations are reporting a lot while other's aren't.Some of them are'nt working or not reported.

East coast is not prominent in this map when compared to total rainfall map i.e less number of rainy days but intense rainfall events..

Chinnakallar topped in TN (167 days of rainfall in 2020)

@HaiyanTip @VaiyaiVenkat Even TNSMART has several defects and variations in their manual rain gauges. Can we select a few stations and map them to identify any differences or variations? For example, in this map, you can clearly see variations around the Yercaud region and some other locations.

@adxtyahq When I first went chennai for job search the auto guy asked 500 rupees for 2kms and I gave it. It was 2017. Auto mfs always ask extra. Only find few good auto riders.

While the current maximum resolution for geostationary weather satellites is around 1 km, EOS-05 offers a significantly higher resolution. Hope they make available for public access.
