Some people spent so much of their lives trying to survive that they never got the chance to learn how to swim, speak a foreign language, play an instrument, travel, or simply explore life beyond work and responsibilities. That’s a side of poverty we rarely talk about.
Abigail Disney famously shared what happened to her dad when he began flying private:
"So all of the sudden, we went from being comfortable, upper-middle-class people to suddenly my dad had a private jet. That's when I feel that my dad really lost his way in life..."
"If I were queen of the world, I would pass a law against private jets, because they enable you to get around a certain reality. You don't have to go through an airport terminal, you don't have to interact, you don't have to be patient, you don't have to be uncomfortable. These are the things that remind us we're human"
Hayao Miyazaki once said that love is two people inspiring each other to live. And living is more than simply existing, it’s noticing the beauty in ordinary moments, finding wonder in the everyday, and being fully present in your life. To love someone is to awaken that sense of awe in them, to make the simple act of being alive feel meaningful. I can’t think of a better way to describe it.
The Pentagon is the only place in America where you can fail 8 audits in a row, admit you’ll fail the next few & still get handed more money than you asked for.
But let a family need help buying groceries and suddenly it’s a lecture about hard work, responsibility & bootstraps.
one day, police kill a small barking dog wearing a Knicks jersey; next, police kill a 1-year-old baby whose mother was "suspected" of shoplifting diapers. US under T***p "shoot first, no questions."
I will never understand how so many of y'all were hoodwinked into believing the government should not use the money YOU PAY IN TAXES to create a social safety net that benefits YOU.
#SpencerPratt conceded defeat in the race for Los Angeles mayor on Friday, painting a bleak picture of the city’s future under either of his opponents and vowing to continue to “expose this corrupt machine”:
“You have no idea how bad things are about to get for this city. The city is a mess, and you’re about to reward the arsonists who torched the place with four more years of destruction… My goal hasn’t changed. I’ve been laser-focused on stopping these commie animals, and I will stop them.”

There’s a “Katie Porter should have quit and let Steyer win” discourse, but worth examining how a Dem with bottomless money endorsing every progressive position couldn’t win most Democratic votes… in California.
