RESENTMENT GOBLINS OF MODERNITY

One of the most unfair aspects of the modern world is that you can do everything right in life and still be randomly murdered by a resentment goblin for no reason at all, to great general fanfare and celebration by a massive section of the left.

You can get an education, grind for years, work 16 hour days, contribute to economic and technological development, produce wealth and prosperity for millions of people.

And yet you can still ultimately just be randomly cut down and murdered one day by a goblin of ressentiment - one of these losers of modernity who hate the world based on a strange cocktail of personal grievances and slights.

Think about how much you invest in every second of every day, years on end, for an uncertain goal on the horizon.

My younger brother wanted to become a professional footballer so he trained 8 hours a day for 15 years from the age of 5 onwards.

I have a friend who wanted to become a bodybuilder so he went to gym every day and maintained a strict diet regimen every day for ten years.

I have a friend who wanted to be a professional musician, so they spent thousands of hours developing their craft.

All of that can just be incinerated in the blink of an eye for no reason at all. Just endless hours of investment, tens of thousands of hours of personal development, incinerated in the blink of an eye.

Just on a personal level the human cost is staggering. So much human potential destroyed.

Think about what that child will miss growing up, and think about what Erin will miss. She won’t get the chance to raise her daughter - to observe the wonder and curiosity in their eyes staring out at their first ever sunset. She will never get to take her kids to the zoo to show them cute animals for the first time and watch their faces light up in delight upon encountering a strange creature for the first time. She will never get to read to those kids, watch with amazement as they develop a natural capacity for language, learning, socialisation. She will never get to watch them go to school for the first time - crying on their first day, begging to stay home - only for them to come home excited and delirious with joy that they made their first friends and got to do some kind of cute arts and craft activity like painting a snowman. She won’t get to guide them through high school, guide them through their first heartbreak. She won’t get to watch them discover their own unique personalities, their own taste in movies and music and fashion. Won’t get to bond with them over loving old music from her own generation. She won’t get to walk them down the aisle, won’t get to see them perfectly blissful and happy with a love or their own. She will never get to meet her grandkids and watch the cycle of life start again.

I don’t have kids yet, but imagine the pain and suffering of Erin’s parents. The pain and suffering of losing a child in old age. You invest tens of thousands of hours into raising another human being and pour so much love into the task. Your dream is to watch them grow up to be successful and happy. Yet they get struck down and murdered one day for no reason at all. Every thought, dream, idea, possibility obliterated in the blink of an eye by some resentful jihadist or mentally ill vagrant.

It’s not fair. It’s so sickeningly unfair.

Having a jury of “one’s own peers” is increasingly unlikely in modern America, which of course interprets “peer” in the most egalitarian sense possible — a human being drawn from the general population.

“Peer” was once properly understood as a title reserved for locally-engaged, intelligent men who could be reasonably trusted with the responsibility of delivering justice. It also deliberately excluded women, men without property or who didn’t pay taxes, etc. for obvious reasons.

It would be terrifying to be on trial and have your fate decided by a dozen people randomly selected from The American Population. Imagine delegating justice to the kind of person you’d bump into at the airport. I’d literally rather just flip a coin.

Lindsay Clancy is in a way lucky since she, as an insane and deeply narcissistic woman, seems to truly have a jury of her peers.

Trust is the only way that great things can happen. Nobody can do anything on their own.

You can't have roads if people tear up the asphalt. You can't have electricity if people steal the copper wire. You can't have education if teachers manipulate your kids instead of teaching them.

Did you see how long the power was out in Gary IN? Low trust. Do you remember the water being poisoned in Flint MI? Low trust. The horror show after Hurricane katrina? Low trust.

If we don't get these people out, they are going to low-trustify your neighborhood, too.
