An important read here on why Ontario cannot allow a few for-profit child care owners to run roughshod over the $10-a-day child care plan. We must say no to private profiteers! https://t.co/HfKrEBXRXw via @torontostar
Fellow Ontario tax payers - please like and retweet if you would rather $3.2 Billion be invested in public services, like education, healthcare, ODSP, support for autism families, than be dolled out in one-time $200 pre-election bribes by Doug Ford. #onpoli#onted#cdpoli
Canada now has Dentacare and Pharmacare, lifted almost 100% boil water advisories, bent the carbon emissions curve while refunding us, $10/day childcare, lowest inflation rate and highest economic growth trajectory in the G7… but we want Trudeau out? You can’t make this shit up.
“I don’t do politics”
Baby, politics is gonna do you, regardless.
Your mayor, council person, state rep, all the way up to president, do not care if you do politics or not.
The laws impact you.
It’s important that you know what is going on.
An evening spent mining through LCBO annual reports. Buckle up.
1. In 2022-23 report the LCBO bragged about a "record dividend of $2.58 billion to the Government of Ontario to support critical services like healthcare, education, and infrastructure."
WHY THE LCBO STRIKE MATTERS
+ LCBO makes a profit of $2.5 Billion/year
+ This $$ funds healthcare, social services, education, etc
+ Ford is spending millions to let Weston & pals sell beer & wine at groceries
+ More money for the rich, less profit for LCBO, less $$ for services
The crux of the education system underfunding explained in this short article.
Students will suffer even more.

Know why Stephen Lecce wants us all talking about cell phones (again)?
So that we’re not talking about how harmful his latest funding formula is for our kids.
A🧵.

The cellphone and vaping ban is a good start, but the increase to base funding for schools boils down to about 2.5%.
The rate of inflation for Ontario last year was about 3.2%.
Your flashy announcements don't hide the fact our schools are still underfunded, @fordnation. #onpoli
This school year, every student received $1,357 less funding than they would have if the government had kept up with inflation.
This is equal to a $35,000 cut per classroom, and a $2.7 billion cut in per-student funding across Ontario.
Public education is drowning.
Schools and daycares are the main source of respiratory bugs every winter (and beyond). Imagine if we could eliminate a huge portion of illness with better ventilation. Whatever it costs will easily be paid back with by reduced illness, hospital use, sick days.
It’s hard to comprehend the deaths of 12,800 children. We put up figures of children on our studio walls - one for each child killed in Gaza during the war.
They’re dying from airstrikes and now malnutrition and dehydration.
These are some of their stories.
Thursday is #RareDiseaseDay, a day to raise awareness for the 446 million people worldwide living with a rare disease.

Just to be clear, @fordnation has money to fund our hospitals, to pay nurses properly, to ensure emergs are open and staffed up. He is *choosing* this for Ontarians, by refusing to appropriately invest in our public healthcare system. We need leaders who make better choices.
Nearly every day in the ICU we have an OHIP-eligible patient with an expired healthcard.
Hospitals forego revenue and MDs work for free.
These patients can't go to Staples.
If @ongov wants to make HC renewal more convenient, it should also be available in hospitals.
NEW: The Ontario Medical Association is warning the Ford government that is province's health care system "is in a state of dire consequence if we don’t do something."
