As per the government order, State Education Policy(SEP) would be implemented from 2026-2027 batches. As per SEP, 90 days relaxation for June, July and August born children who have completed Nursery, LKG and UKG will be granted. Our children are eligible to get promoted to first grade. We are requesting government to implement SEP or provide 90 days relaxation for the children who are already in the system.
#WATCH | Bengaluru | Parents of children who do not meet the Class 1 age cut-off criteria (6 years of age) in the New Education Policy hold a demonstration requesting the Karnataka govt to give a 90-day relaxation to ensure children do not have to repeat UKG or Montessori
A parent says, "It is not a protest but a request to the govt to promote children who have completed three years of pre-primary education to Class 1. Our children are not meeting the 6-year age cut-off under the NEP. For children, repeating a class will cause psychological stress. The institutions are open to it and don't want children to repeat, but we are waiting for the govt to give relaxation in the rule or expedite SEP implementation."
#WATCH | Bengaluru | A parent says, "We have been following up for the last two years, when we met the CM, Deputy CM and Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa. We have got assurance from the CM and the Deputy CM. As parents, we want the best for our children. These are children born during Covid times, and they have already faced a lot of emotional and psychological stress. Making them repeat a class will take a toll on their psychological health. We have full faith in the government of Karnataka. I am sure they will prove 90-day relaxation to more than 2 lakh affected children."
When children have completed nursery, LKG, UKG and are developmentally ready to progress to 1st grade, holding them back and asking them to repeat UKG is unfair especially for June, July and August born children. Request @CMofKarnataka, @DKShivakumar,@Madhu_Bangarapp@KarnatakaEduSer@shalinirajnish to kindly provide 90 days relaxation for these children.
Thank you so much @DKShivakumar Sir for giving us your valuable time and listening to our plea. We are highly hopeful that our kids will not get to repeat a year.

@SudhaSadhanand Hello ma’m 🙏 I am a parent to a bright son who will be falling short by few days to be promoted to grade 1 due to the Karnataka age rule. I saw your video https://t.co/oZiKgxthj9 where your view was in favour of the affected parents and kids.
LIVE: Karnataka Eases Class 1 Age Rule — But With Limits | The South Indian https://t.co/24qPmoJfrr via @YouTube@wajihulla sir lkg parents request you to please follow up regarding 60 day exemption mentioned by @Madhu_Bangarapp sir which always existed. Schools deny it.
@Madhu_Bangarapp’s clarification that a 60-day grace period “always existed” — and that age relaxation for Class 1 applies only to state board — has left parents & schools completely confused.
