@themarginalian Not so much about loss specifically as living a life that can be difficult, I give away Sylvia Boorstein's "Its Easier Than you Think". Its a personal and accessible overview of essential Buddhist thought - beautifully distilled and essential if you're adrift in sorrow or other.
Hopefully that bibliography/footnote section will spawn a thousand PhD theses :-)) or inspire other writers. Hint to publishers to promote to University departments. @BloomsburyIndia
At Ahmedabad Int'l Book Fest with the always engaging William Dalrymple. If you're an Indophile, of Indian origin, or have a recreational interest in the nature of trade and "soft-power" buy this book & thank William for pulling it together. @DalrympleWill @SudevSheth
I asked what he left on the cutting room floor - "Not much he said" . He went on to say that he has meticulously put into the footnotes and bibliography all the open questions, "work-in-progress" and controversies. Many happy hours to be spent chasing threads there.
YouTube India doing its bit for inflation and the AI cash drain hole at Google by increasing prices for Youtube Premium family plans in India from Rs 189 to Rs 299 :-)).
Still a bargain to eliminate crap ads but it takes some audacity to increase by 58% with zero explanations
Digital public infrastructure is a vital topic for emerging economies. Balancing public and private investment in infrastructure and standards is a fraught topic but important to engage. Developed nations have some lessons to learn from India's work here. @DasShaktikanta@RBI

@RBI@DasShaktikanta@DasShaktikanta Thanks for making the keynote available. Will you be posting the rest of the conference on Youtube or making the contents available for those who are unable to be in Bengaluru?
@tcannoy Lovely catch. The Berkeley Hills & Bolinas have all kinds of little surprises if you ever do a walk there. The yellow lichen in the hills can be stunning.
@karpathy For those who need to start with basic ideas of information encoding and manipulation and build up to transistors and gates, try the Code by Charles Petzhold. Code: The Hidden Language of Computer Hardware and Software https://t.co/prJrw7wEgB. Suitable for middle schoolers on
@rmhrisk That is landscape art! - beautiful shot. What's the vantage point? I have old pictures of Yosemite and Point Reyes Limantour area where the view has changed/obscured the vista over the years so this one seems like a keeper.
#AppleWatch#Fail Apple watch face just came unglued during travel in India. Likely battery expanded and pushed up. Series 6 now out of extended warranty options limited to DIY repair (replace battery). Apple has some QA work to do to survive summer in India. Recall Anyone? ☹️
@paulg Some more tips:
1. Use the endorsements, forewords, footnotes and references as leads
2. Respect the act of editing and curation - chase small presses and special imprints of large publishing houses. See Wooden Books or University Presses.
3. Sample shelves at good libraries
@windley For some inspiration - see the Math books for kids by Mitsumasa Anno and other authors who’ve made an attempt at visual math/storytelling to get these hard concepts across.
@windley Concepts that are not “natural” to our lived experience require some extra effort to put across to those not immersed in these concepts day to day (includes many professionals). Too many explanations lean hard on text and unnatural examples. Getting those across is an art.
Well, here's a perfect masterclass in security from Ryan on the foundations related to keys, credentials and authentication failures which continue to be the soft underbelly for most infrastructure.
It feels like when it comes to key and credential management, we are all stuck in a Groundhog Day loop, repeatedly facing the same compromises over and over. https://t.co/Zs2OwS6fxH
📢On International Archives Day (June 9), IIMA Archives is delighted to launch "Archives on India", a digital public good that lists and maps 500+ archives and repositories. A must-see for history-buffs!!
