The planes were there to bomb Vietnamese villages. But the shooting down of the planes was the aggression. The bombing was the order. The anti-aircraft gun was the escalation.

They told Korea it had no right to fight back when the bombing began.

They told Iraq it had no right to Scud missiles.

They told Iran it has no right to a nuclear program.

They told Libya to give up its weapons program. And Gaddafi, fatally, believed the guarantee that followed.

The demand is always: disarm. Trust us. Accept your vulnerability. Our restraint is your only protection.

And the record of what happens to countries that accept that offer is written in the ruins of every country that accepted that offer.

The empire's promise of protection is only extended to countries that remain permanently unable to make protection unnecessary.

Because a country that protects itself doesn't need the empire.

And a country that doesn't need the empire cannot be managed by it.

The demand to disarm is never about safety.

It is about access.

As if East Timor hasn’t had enough of war and bloodshed.

Now the US is recruiting Timor-Leste in “expanding interoperability” as the US military accelerates preparations for the likely war with China.

The US is planning on spending millions on military infrastructure in Timor, including the upgrading of the Baucau airbase.

The past is ignored after 34 years of US-backed military dictatorship of General Suharto, supporting the invasion and occupation of Timor, and the genocide of a third of the Timorese population using US-supplied weapons and equipment, all under US diplomatic cover.

The United States needs to leave East Timor alone.

Football commentator and media dude Sam Newman just claimed the woman raped by sports manager Ralph Carr had 'buyer's remorse' and he questioned the evidence of the rapist's crimes.
He made the comment during an interview with other good bloke Wayne Carey (because of he did).
I hope Newman is cancelled by AFL and by ever media outlet that platforms him. How dare he stand up and call a rape victim a liar.
Let's recap.
Carr was convicted of raping the woman in March of 2023. He was convicted by a jury.
The woman was repeatedly called a liar by his defence. She endured a grueling and demeaning cross examination.
For context, juries rarely convict in rape cases because of the old 'he said she said' bullshit.
Carr himself had a cloak of anonymity for three years as he used his money and power to convince the legal system to protect him.
He was charged in 2023 and a suppression order – similar to the one used to protect rapist Tom Silvagni – was rolled out.
He raped the woman in 2023 after spending months harassing her sexually.
He attacked her when she became distressed while telling him of a relationship breakdown.

One of the most terrifying realities we live with in Gaza one that almost no one in the world talks about is the presence of more than 100 military towers, each standing over 30 meters tall, surrounding the Gaza Strip from every direction.

Each tower is equipped with an automated machine gun that fires remotely without a soldier standing behind it. It makes no distinction between a child, a woman, or an elderly person, nor between civilians and anyone else. It can open fire at any moment, turning the simple act of moving into a potential death sentence.

These machine guns are capable of firing more than 6,000 rounds per minute, with a range of nearly 3,000 meters enough to cover most of the small area of Gaza where the population has been confined.

We are not only living under bombardment; we are living under constant surveillance by machines that know neither mercy nor hesitation. Gaza has become completely exposed to these weapons, and fear follows us with every step. Even leaving to search for food or water can become your last journey.

This is not science fiction. It is not a scene from a movie. This is the reality we live every single day in Gaza.

We are literally living inside Squid Game.
