Naomi Osaka on why she chose to host a party for the black tennis players:
“You know I'm seeing a little bit of-
‘Why can't you love everyone for all skin tones?’ and ‘what if someone had an all white party?! First of all I do love everyone for who they are no matter their race + ethnicity, (I'm literally half Japanese lol). I can only speak from my experiences in my own life though, growing up as a tennis player I didn't see many people that looked like ME and I feel like it's important to celebrate them.
Secondly I feel like it's important to note that there have been all white dinners/parties. I don't know how else to tell you this, I literally seen them all the time and never had an issue with it at all. To the people who ask this question I want to ask you this question too, ‘What is it about POC getting together that unsettles you so much?’
I want to end this by saying I grew up watching my dad get discriminated against, having the cops called on him multiple times at the tennis court. There are multiple things I will apologize for in my life but celebrating being black and appreciating who we are will never be something I would consider saying sorry for. Thanks.
Actually I lied, I am sorry. I'm sorry for the people who cannot comprehend in their brains that this is not about exclusion, this is a celebration about how far we have come 🖤”

Today is the birthday of the great Malcolm X.
His message is still relevant today because we still live under the same capitalist system that has to change for things to get better.
“You’re living at a time of revolution. A time where there’s got to be a change. People in power have misused it. And now there has to be a change and a better world has to be built. I will join with anyone, I don’t care what color you are, as long as you want to change this miserable condition that exists on this earth.”
Dr. Cornell West uses the news of the $1.8 billion DOJ fund to compensate victims of unfair lawfare on CNN NewsNight to advocate for TRILLIONS of dollars in reparations…
“There's just no ground for justification of this unless you open the gates and you got trillions of dollars for ex-slaves and ex-Jim Crow people… Now tomorrow is Malcolm X's birthday, he's 101. What is it about Malcolm? Well, what we're talking about is just, this is just the peak of an iceberg…. There is no integrity in justifying $1.8 billion of people who engaged in criminal activity, actually killed some policemen and they get compensated, they get reparations. And black folk, indigenous folk, other folk, unfair, even white brothers and sisters who have gone to jail innocent who deserve some kind of some kind of accountability. There's no way you can justify this, but this is just one peak of an iceberg.”
Many basketball fans judge 1960s athleticism based on old highlights, pointing to "stiff" dribbling and a lack of explosive drives. But that wasn't a lack of physical ability—it was strict officiating.
• Zero Tolerance for Carrying: You couldn't place your hand anywhere near the side or bottom of the ball. Players were forced to push the ball strictly from the top, which fundamentally limited their change-of-direction speed and crossover ability.
• Strict Offensive Fouls: Lowering a shoulder or initiating contact meant an immediate whistle. You couldn't simply bulldoze your way down the lane like Giannis does today.
The truth is, if you dropped modern superstars into the 1960s, their signature explosive drives wouldn't just be whistled down—they wouldn't exist in the first place.
Players only develop and practice the skills that the rules allow them to use. You can't romanticize modern athleticism without acknowledging that today's wide-open style is a direct result of a drastically loosened rulebook.
Let the record show that Louisiana had some Black men who spoke truth to power.
Let the record show that Republicans in the Louisiana Senate are not leaders. They are a reflection of some of the worst parts of America, and history will remember them in 4K.
Next week, this committee will vote on Louisiana’s congressional maps. Anything less than two Black seats is theft. They have already begun taking seats of power from us, so we need to begin the work of taking seats from them.
If you agree with me, use your voice. Start showing up. Tell your friends what’s happening. Make it a priority.
This isn’t a drill. We aren’t being alarmist. The shit has hit the fan, and it’s on us now. Click the link in my bio to support Civics for the People. We aren’t just going to talk about it — we’re going to educate, organize, and mobilize the people.
Don’t ever get it twisted: nobody takes anything from you that isn’t valuable.

Take whatever wife slapper Dana White has to say about men’s mental health, ignore it, then listen to what an actual man like Macho Man Randy Savage says regarding handling male emotions
Everyone needs to watch @Justinjpearson's floor speech from the TN State House.
"Today, you will take the only Black-majority district from us. But I want you to know: No matter what you do, no matter how much you try to break us & make us bend & quit — we will still be here."
That’s actually not the argument.
The argument is not “Democrats and Republicans are the same.” They are not. There are clearly areas where things are better under Democrats than Republicans. Medicaid expansion is one example: uninsured rates are much higher in states that refused expansion than in states that accepted it. The Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade also shows very clearly that Republican power has real consequences.
But “Democrats are better than Republicans” is not the same thing as “Democrats are doing enough.”
That is where y’all keep missing the point.
The left is not comparing Democrats to some imaginary perfect ideal. We are comparing the scale of the crisis to the scale of the response.
If rent is unaffordable, wages are stagnant, healthcare is still too expensive, student debt is crushing people, and the federal minimum wage has not changed since 2009, then telling people “at least we are better than Republicans” is not enough.
Because better than Republicans does not automatically mean materially transformative for working people.
The pattern is simple: Democrats get elected because people are scared of Republicans. Then Democrats govern cautiously. People’s lives do not change enough. Disillusionment grows. Turnout drops. Republicans come back even worse. Then Democrats use the next Republican threat to restart the same cycle.
So no, this is not about being a “deep thinker” or complicating something simple.
It is actually very simple:
If Democrats want to stop Republicans from coming back, they have to do more than be better than Republicans. They have to give people a real material reason to believe voting for them will change their lives.
Steve Kerr on his biggest concern about America Today
“When I finished college almost forty years ago, if you went to school and got a degree, you could get a job and you could buy a house. Now that's out of reach for most people between student debt and home prices and the economy slanted toward the very, very top one per cent. We don't really have a middle class, and we don't have what used to represent the American Dream, which was: you can do better than your parents. We're going backward on all that. Our family is lucky. I'm in a position where my family can live well. But there are millions of people out there, young people who are looking at the horizon and saying, "I did everything I was told I needed to do, and I can't buy a house, and I can't chase my dream." Think about what that means for the stability of communities and cities and a whole country.”

@OilyEyelids You should probably listen to this speech from Bobby Seale, one of the founders of BPP. He talks about how one of the goals of BPP was to get black people in public service and that there were BPP members in the Oakland police force.
