Dear @narendramodi and @nitin_gadkari, I urge you to heed science, reason, and the concerns of ordinary Indians.
Here, I explain why India’s E20 policy hurts vehicle owners, water resource, and the environment; and helps the politician-middleman, the sugar, and the liquor lobby:
Genuine question:
Why can't Indian highways be smooth? They always feel uneven, bumpy, undulating. Even on flyovers along NHs, you can feel every expansion joint under your car. Many times, the car hits a sudden vertical bump out of nowhere, usually at the beginning of a flyover, and the impact is so hard that the wipers come on.
Is it due to soil conditions, lack of technology, engineering constraints, or simply corruption?
I keep saying that good driving and safe driving is mostly based on the human operator. The driver.
The northeast roads are not that great, not many cops around, but still see the discipline. It’s just self discipline.
Can we change drivers behaviour with driver education?
Maybe it will take a few years, but at least the next generation will benefit. Our kids will have better traffic discipline.
We got to start somewhere, why not now?

@TopDriverIndia North-East is indeed a different world than the rest of India… In fact, is the best part of India when it comes to civic sense- so much to learn from 🙂
@punekarnews Last mile connectivity is still a BIG concern, even for older lines 1 & 2. Hope this one will have the underlying infrastructure ready beforehand.
The 1978 Ranga-Billa case involved the brutal kidnapping and murder of teenage siblings Geeta and Sanjay Chopra in Delhi by career criminals Kuljeet Singh (Ranga) and Jasbir Singh (Billa).
The horrific crime shocked the nation, leading to a massive manhunt and the swift conviction of both killers, who were ultimately hanged in 1982.
The investigation was led by Inspector VP Gupta of the Delhi Police, with SI Ram Chander serving on the team. A bystander, who had tried to save the children, and later helped the police identify the killers by providing their descriptions was Babulal. The journalist who covered the case was Prabha Dutt.
Amazon Prime's series Raakh, which is based on this incident, replaces Inspector VP Gupta with SI Jayprakash Jatav, explicitly portrayed as a Dalit officer navigating institutional bias. Furthermore, SI Ram Chander is replaced by SI Javed Murtaza, Babulal by Saleem, and Prabha Dutt by Nisar, while a lazy hawaldar character named Mishra has been added to the narrative.
This isn't creative liberty. Creative liberty is meant to enhance a story, not distort historical facts to fit a specific ideological agenda. Another stark reminder of how easily history can be rewritten in plain sight under the convenient guise of creative freedom.

@AshwiniVaishnaw @RailMinIndia @Dev_Fadnavis @mieknathshinde @SunetraA_Pawar @CMOMaharashtra
Such a waste of ministers we have.
Now the CM and the entire government will come forward to defend this. The entire opposition will conveniently remain silent on the issue.
What a joke, @AshwiniVaishnaw. Take some accountability.
If there were "critical technical conflicts", were the authorities unaware of them during the survey, DPR and approval stages? Or is this simply an admission of poor planning?
The same people in government were doing PR campaigns claiming, "Yes, Pune–Nashik will get Semi High-Speed Rail." Just search their old posts and you'll find them.
This project has become a complete joke.
What happened, @Dev_Fadnavis@CMOMaharashtra@mohol_murlidhar?
@RailMinIndia@AshwiniVaishnaw ji,
this route will be useless to most people and insignificant from the POV of connecting 2 major industrial hubs. This needs to be reworked! :(
#WATCH | Pune, Maharashtra: Confirming that the direct Pune–Nashik semi-high-speed rail route has been scrapped due to critical technical conflicts, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw says, "The Pune-Nashik issue has been resolved. A direct route is not being built. It's become clear that it's technically not feasible. The route will be Pune-Nashik, Pune-Ahalianagar, Ahalianagar-Shirdi, and Shirdi-Nashik... a lot of work has been sanctioned... A large area has been sanctioned. Work has also begun... We will benefit from it very soon..."
Absolutely brilliant. A truly world class, groundbreaking theory that the Y chromosome is the definitive molecular driver of global warming.
Only a visionary champion of science like Ms. Mirza could look at millions of metric tons of industrial greenhouse gases & deduce that the real culprit is a strand of male DNA.
Bollywood never disappoints when it comes to creative fiction. The next breakthrough paper, hopefully published by some prestigious Norwegian journal, should be titled:
"Thermodynamics vs. The Patriarchy: Why the Second Law of Thermodynamics is Inherently Misogynistic & How to Cancel It."
The appendix can mathematically prove that 1st class emissions do not count if the passenger is simultaneously opposing patriarchy, capitalism & climate change from seat 1A.
Modern sleep studies show that if a daytime nap exceeds 20-30 mins, we enter deep, slow-wave sleep. Waking up from this causes sleep inertia, leaving us groggy, destroying our night sleep & messing up our insulin sensitivity.
Ancient India prevented this through a mandatory post-lunch ritual called Vama-Kukshi.
Vama means left & Kukshi means womb/side. The protocol mandates that after a midday meal, we must lie down specifically on our left side for a short duration (traditionally calculated as the time it takes to take 8 to 16 deep breaths, ~15-20 mins).
Lying on our left side keeps the stomach below the esophagus, preventing acid reflux. More importantly, it activates the Pingala Nadi (the right nostril breathing channel, connected to the sympathetic nervous system), which stimulates digestion, while keeping the brain in a state of light, restorative rest rather than letting it plunge into a deep, heavy slumber.
The Sushruta Samhita explicitly warns that long, heavy sleeping during the day destroys metabolic health (causes Kapha & Meda/fat accumulation). But a short Vama-Kukshi, a quick, left-sided power nap was prescribed to restore mental clarity, relieve stress & preserve vitality (Ojas).
It is the exact ancient counterpart to the modern 15 min "power nap."
Karuvi update: these are the major issues that come up in power tools design. At 11000+ rpm, does it overheat, does it vibrate too much and does it produce too much noise?
We have to find parts that work well and are also price competitive. Low end Chinese power tools won't pass all the tests but they are very cheap. We decided we have to pass all the tests the Japanese and German tools would pass.
Finally we have the product that meets that quality bar shipping to trial customers locally.
Tooling costs are another major issue. We are planning a tool room.
All this has taught us a lot of lessons. We will roll out a full line of tools later this year.
To build anything that truly lasts, it takes time!
